With the business going through an exciting period of growth & development we are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join us on a permanent basis.

The position sits within the central data science function, whose purpose is to lead and support analytical projects on each of our platforms. The team acts both as a project team, owning and delivering products to various stakeholders, and as a consultancy to teams around the business.

You will have the opportunity to work on a number of projects that will range from designing frameworks for collections strategies to determining optimal staffing structures on our platforms, or supporting on valuations and investment strategy across the group. You will have a large amount of freedom on how you choose to solve these problems - we are always interested in learning something new.

As a central function, we aim to support and guide our local analytics teams, while taking the lead on esoteric or commercially sensitive workstreams.

This is a permanent role and will be based at our Manchester offices with the opportunity for hybrid working.

What will you be doing?
  • Build, maintain and execute forecasting models; Unsecured consumer/SME, secured consumer/SME, real estate developments, other niche/specialist asset types
  • Build or advise on operational models bespoke to each platform (e.g. value prediction, classification)
  • Produce models and analysis to an auditable standard, and be able to lead auditors through the work
  • Produce high quality supporting analysis for particular deals/projects in a fast paced and high-pressure environment
  • Communicate complex solutions to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Lead in the design of best-practise solutions:
  • Design of data marts.
  • Design of collections strategies, from testing through to reporting.
  • Documentation standards
  • Manage multiple stakeholders from a variety of business areas, and be able to prioritise work

Is this you?
  • Experience implementing and productionising statistical modelling.
  • Experienced with a statistical programming language. Willing to use R or python.
  • Proven stakeholder management experience
  • Experienced with SQL
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Have experience of any of the following; AWS, R or python, Monte Carlo techniques, machine learning
