Are you looking for your first in-house role? Would you like to gain experience of UK legal and regulatory matters in financial services? Are you a self-motivated lawyer, naturally curious and do you like to challenge the status quo? Would you like to have an impact in a complex and collaborative asset management environment?
We are looking for a UK Asset Management Lawyer like you to:
• advise on all legal and regulatory aspects related to the full spectrum of services to our institutional and professional clients, with a main focus on discretionary portfolio management and other asset management service types (advisory services and execution-only activities, together with the distribution of investment instruments and sales-related topics)
• support the drafting of contracts and negotiation of documents, in particular investment management agreements with UK and International clients, mainly governed by UK law
• represent Legal in wider projects and initiatives with a focus on UK legal and innovation/ technology related matters
• collaborate with internal stakeholders across all UBS divisions Your team
You will be joining our UBS Asset Management Client Coverage Legal team for EMEA & CH and be based in London. We are an international in-house legal department with team members located in Zürich, London, Luxembourg, Milan and Krakòw.
We are responsible for developing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and providing legal advice to internal stakeholders with respect to financial services and distribution of investment products. We provide our Asset Management business units in EMEA & CH with high-quality legal advice, tailor-made solutions and actively support them in the development and structuring of new offerings as well as negotiating agreements. Our goal is to make sure our clients get systematic, coherent and tailored asset management legal services.
Your expertise
• fully qualified lawyer in England & Wales
• up to 1 year PQE in a law firm or financial services sector (no in-house experience required)
• an interest in complex, international and regulatory topics (you would be comfortable handling foreign law questions) as well as technical solutions in the field of legal
• a digital native with excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical and interpersonal skills
• ability to prioritize and work independently or, in more complex cases, work under the lead of a more experienced lawyer, taking responsibility for delivering effective, pragmatic and compliant legal solutions for our clients
• business fluent in English; additional languages would also be an asset
