Chief Risk Officer UK/Ireland, Senior Vice President, Hybrid

Who we are looking for
The Chief Risk Officer UK/Ireland reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer for State Street and is responsible for developing, directing and managing the overall enterprise risk management function within United Kingdom and Ireland.

The role is responsible for ensuring effective identification, measurement, control and management of the relevant risks facing State Street within the UK/Ireland operation thereby improving the overall risk posture of the region. Furthermore, the role is responsible for ensuring that the respective risk programs address all relevant risks as well as corporate and local requirements, collaborating with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) peers as well as with Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Industry Affairs and Corporate Audit as appropriate.

This role is also an SMF-4 position for SSBT Branch and its affiliates in the UK.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for
As Chief Risk Officer UK/Ireland you will

• Build and/or maintain effective relationships with senior regulators and agencies regarding State Street's risk programs and related regulatory requirements
• Develop required regional enhancements for risk management policies, procedures and systems to identify, measure and monitor the related risks; this includes all required jurisdictional reviews and approval with relevant stakeholders / governance bodies
• Provide oversite and governance of policies & procedure, risk thresholds, monitoring and remediation oversight of State Street's related UK/Ireland business units
• Provide advice and guidance to corporate and regional committees, legal entity boards, with appropriate, timely and relevant information so that they can discharge their responsibilities effectively
• Identify key emerging risks and ensure appropriate risk responses are developed
• Monitor changes in the risk profile and provide effective challenge to Business stakeholder's remediation plans
• Provide reporting as applicable to both internal constituents and external regulators
• Ensure effective measures are taken to address breaches of risk tolerance or identified deficiencies in risk control and that such matters are appropriately escalated
• Chair business unit-wide, regional, or corporate-wide committees and serve in global and regional committees to review and oversee major relevant risk management and compliance issues; ensure that relevant risk-related management information is produced and reviewed at appropriate intervals. May serve in industry committees (e.g., UK Technology and Operational Risk Committee)
• Work closely with business unit management to establish appropriate risk culture and ensure business line ownership, accountability and responsibilities for risks they generate
• Identify key risks and trends for the Regional and Country executives as it relates to business strategies
• Ensure collaboration and coordination between ERM International and the Corporate ERM functional leads as well as International Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Industry Affairs and Corporate Audit as appropriate
• Lead and manage a team of professionals ensuring that there are clear lines of reporting, authority levels, objectives and progress against performance priorities
• Develop and manage the planning and budgets (people, infrastructure, consulting) as assigned by the Chief Risk Officer

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, or Business Administration, or in a related field
• Post-graduate education, with a master's degree in business administration preferred
• Specialized training in risk management will be viewed as an asset
• Minimum of 20 years of related experience including time spent managing in an executive capacity
• Related business experience in accounting, economics, legal or actuarial work
• Deep knowledge and understanding of risk management principles and strategies
• Demonstrated experience evaluating risks and developing strategies to mitigate those risks for a multi-jurisdictional financial services company
• Understanding of digital and corporate technology systems, networks, IT infrastructure and cyber threats
• Knowledge of financial compliance requirements including fraud prevention and potential threats to monetary transactions
