The Position
a. developing a business strategy and governance process for the design, development and deployment of common Data capabilities and services across the spectrum of Payments and Receivables products. The position will ensure that common Data models and solutions are in place for payments and receivables products to provide a consistent unified approach. The position will support global, regional and local product managers to execute key strategic solutions leveraging Data to address existing and emerging client needs, and client service and compliance gaps, ensuring design, development, and delivery of consistent solutions globally. The incumbent will drive the strategy, act as lead and SME for Data solutions, ensure agreement on priorities, and maintain effective governance.

b. developing a business strategy and governance process for the design, development and deployment of common client facing digital channels capabilities and services across the spectrum of Payments and Receivables products. The position will ensure that client digital channels solutions for payments and receivables have a consistent unified approach ensuring overall governance. The position will support global, regional and local product managers to execute key strategic solutions for digital client facing channels to address existing and emerging client needs ensuring design, development, and delivery of consistent solutions globally. The incumbent will drive the strategy, act as lead and single point of contact for digital channels, ensure agreement on priorities, and maintain effective governance.

The position will report to the Global Head of Payment Services and Portfolio Management.

1. Data Lead Responsibilities
Define, develop, and manage a Data strategy across all payments and receivables products, ensuring that there is a globally consistent process for acquiring, persisting, and delivering Data. Data is a key asset in the payment process, whether to support client needs or to manage the business or to report to regulators. Our Data strategy must support the end to end (sourcing to delivering) process across 250+ clearing systems and alternative payment methods (mobile, wallets, digital currencies)in which Citi participates. The position will coordinate across both P&R and Platforms and Data services (PDS) teams to ensure a coordinated, prioritized approach to defining and deploying Data capabilities in coordination with global, regional, and local product managers.

Client insights and analytics
  • Understand the drivers of business results and how data/analytics can accelerate outcomes; drive theory to execution with business partners to directly impact results
  • Navigate across TTS to uncover new insights and potentially new business models, growth vectors, or products by looking across multiple datasets
  • Unlock new value through data sharing / data exchanges with external clients
  • Create an analytical roadmap and agenda, with appropriate prioritization; track progress / measure results
  • Influence business outcomes without direct authority
  • Investigate and leverage external tools
  • Continually, succinctly, and clearly communicate progress and results against the data/analytics agenda within the team, with peers, and with executive management both within and across business lines
  • Continually "bring the outside in" to learn and deploy best practices from other organizations or industry forums
Data sourcing:
  • Further execution of a plan to receive and store full payment transactional information in a canonical model serving all payments and receivables products globally based on an ISO 20022 Data model.
  • Ensure persistence and availability of the Data across all events in a payment lifecycle, and ensure storage of the Data
  • Define and execute a strategy to support low latency and high availability of Data for digital commerce client needs.
Data brokering:
  • Ensure a single source of truth for all Data for client, internal, and regulatory use.
  • Coordinate a strategy to ensure persistence of payments Data from receipt to storage and use, based on the canonical Data model throughout the payment lifecycle. Develop a plan and a roadmap to remediate Data quality issues (truncation, replacement, etc.). Provide audit trails of Data enrichment and replacement events. Ensure a coherent strategy for Data lineage.
Data usage management:
  • Provide capabilities to support client discovery or receipt of all events in a transactions lifecycle, via multiple access channels: File/host to host/ERP, UI, APIs, SWIFT (API or legacy methods)
  • Build actionable visibility solutions for client and internal management of payment exceptions giving all parties the ability to resolve and act on such exceptions.
  • Define an execute a strategy to leverage the single source of truth for all reporting.
Data insights and machine learning:
  • Work with PDS team to build internal descriptive and predictive client analytics on payment activity based on the single source of truth. The audience will be sales, service, operations, and product management.
  • Continue to build and update a payment risk management solution for client usage, using machine learning algorithms to identify patterns and spot and alert clients of anomalies in their payment transactions.
  • Leverage payment domain knowledge within the payments and receivables team to work with Data science and Data engineering teams to deploy machine learning algorithms for descriptive and prescriptive insights using classification or regression techniques or clustering or deep learning tools.
Governance:
  • Maintain a well-coordinated and agreed set of priorities and act as single point of contact with the TTS Digital Data team.
  • Work with PDS and development teams on solution design, implementation tactics, and schedule of deliverables
  • Manage and communicate to stakeholders and leadership the digital Data roadmap, book of work, and status.
  • Work with other stakeholders to build solutions related to payments and receivables using common Data models.
  • Define business solutions, rules, and Data requirements for new functionality: Facilitate and lead strategy and requirements discussions with product managers to define solutions. Develop and maintain best practices and lessons learned to improve delivery and ensure consistency and economy of approach.
2. Digital Lead Responsibilities
Lead the deployment of P&R client capabilities through Citi's payment channels: CitiDirect, CitiConnect ensuring that there is a globally consistent process for acquiring and providing payment information from and to clients via any channel: User Interface, API, file, SWIFT. The incumbent will deliver solutions for client interactive connectivity that support seamless execution of payments, and efficient capture of information at the source.
Our channels must be able to support the acquisition of client payment transactions to be executed across 250+ clearing systems and alternative payment channels (mobile, wallets, digital currencies). The position will ensure a coordinated, prioritized approach to defining and deploying such capabilities in coordination with global, regional, and local product managers.

Key objectives:
  • Product Roadmap, requirements and governance
    • Work with Product Managers to understand requirements and business plans as well as emerging regulatory requirements to translate into roadmaps
    • Maintain a well-coordinated and agreed set of priorities and act as single point of contact with the TTS Digital Channels team. Coordinate the roadmap across P&R and PDS in a fully integrated manner.
    • Work with digital channels and development team on solution design, implementation tactics, and schedule of deliverables
    • Ensure seamless client onboarding, transaction execution and servicing experience
    • Manage and communicate to stakeholders and leadership the digital channels roadmap, book of work, and status. Define product and business measures of user engagement
    • Define business solutions, rules, and data requirements for new functionality: Facilitate and lead strategy and requirements discussions with product managers to define solutions. Develop and maintain best practices and lessons learned to improve delivery and ensure consistency.
  • UI:
    • Execute a strategy for the implementation of CitiDirect Next Gen across payment products and services, and across geographies. Ensure the implementation leads to commonality and consistency improving client experience.
    • Define and develop improved client connectivity features for client access to payment information from initiation to execution, with simplified and client relevant journeys.
  • SWIFT, Files and ERP integration
    • Ensure a common approach driven by ISO 20022 standards
    • Create a framework for common, central validation services.
  • API's
    • Develop and publish metrics for APIs including consumption, performance (latency, availability, etc.). Publish an API catalog
    • Implement an API governance process within P&R with an API design board as a forum to review and agree requirements and their priorities, ensuring consistency and economy. Represent P&R in the TTS API governance process.
    • Define standard API loads, consistent taxonomy of data elements across channels and payment methods. Ensure a coordinated approach is in place to define API endpoints.
    • Enable superior develop experience across developer touchpoints: documentation, portal, sandbox. Lead requirements for payments and receivables with the developer experience in mind.
    • Work with other product and technology stakeholders to ensure API capabilities work seamlessly end to end with back-end systems, using common data elements, and ensuring end to end agreed latency and performance to deliver integrated client centric solutions.
Experience, Skills, Qualifications:
10+ years prior product development and management experience with significant senior exposure demonstrating :
  • Experience in leading the designing, developing or managing Data solutions involving not just BI tools, but Data science concepts.
  • Familiarity with Data modeling concepts, canonical Data models, ISO 20022.
  • Some working knowledge of Data analytics tools and Data science methods (supervised vs unsupervised learning, classification tools, regression tools, clustering tools)
  • Experience in designing, developing or managing API solutions. Understanding of Representation State Transfer (RESTful) concepts, and relevant tools including JSON, XML (specifically ISO 20022). Familiarity with API schemas (Swagger, Open API 2 or 3).
  • Familiarity with industry leading developer portal and sandbox solutions and how to support the developer persona.
  • Experience building solutions related to the end-to-end payment process for RTGS/wires, ACH, Instant Payments, cross border payments.
  • Ability to operate at different levels : to analyze issues, dissect processes, synthesize solutions, develop themes, understand risks, translate lessons learned into actions, and quantify benefits.
  • Prior roles requiring a bridge between technical teams and business leads to bring relevant stakeholders to resolve issues. Ability to explain in business language technical issues, and to convey business goals to technical audiences.
  • Significant experience managing high performing teams in a multi stakeholder environment across geographies.
