Who we're looking for

A data science engineer to join the Schroders Capital Data Insights team. A primary focus of the role will be to support the Private Equity business; building applications and conducting research that helps support the investment decisions. In addition you will be expected to contribute towards the teams wider objectives across Schroders Capital.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The team

The Schroders Capital Data Insights (SCDI) team provides a data science capability to the different investment teams and cross business functions (solutions, sustainability, etc.) within Schroders Capital. Currently there are six Data Scientists within the team. SCDI is one of several sub-teams that form the groups data insights team that has supported investment and business decisions since 2014.

What you'll do

• Maintain and develop data science applications
• Maintain and develop ETL data pipelines
• Maintain and develop the data science platform based on AWS
• Maintain and develop tools / packages used by the data scientists
• Close coordination with the other members of the data science, central data engineering team, IT and Investment teams.
• Contribute to team strategy and the growth of the team

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

• Degree in a relevant technical discipline, such as Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field
• Previous experience in a relevant role
• Highly proficient with Python
• Proficiency with R
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and a good knowledge of the Linux environment
• Experience with Docker
• Experience with AWS
• Experience in the financial industry, real estate or private equity is not required, but would be a plus.
