The EAP Org is responsible for defining and executing core architecture and technology strategy for the Institutional Clients Group (ICG) and works across the ICG businesses (Markets, Treasury and Trade Services, Banking, and Shared Services) to ensure complete strategic alignment and efficiency of execution across a diverse portfolio of engineering activities, including external Cloud Capability development, Platform Architectures, and Data Engineering.

The Head of Operations Engineering and Architecture is an engineering leader that partners with the ICG Operations and Technology teams to develop a best-in-class technology platform for Operations, including development of an integrated portfolio of Operations tools, 'low code' solutions, and ensure that ICG's Technology platforms are created with Operations automation and usability requirements in mind.

The successful candidate will partner heavily with the ICG Technology and Operations Leadership and CTI Leadership, as well as with the EAP's functional and business aligned leadership team.

This role reports directly into the ICG Head Of Engineering and Architecture, with a line into the ICG Head of Operations, and as such will sit on the leadership team of both groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Focus on driving automation with Operations through guiding application design to focus on STP and that any required UIs are well designed with an explicit focus on Operations UX
  • Ensure that Operations application design principles are codified as standards that can be applied through the Architecture Review process.
  • Define the Operations technology toolkit and platform (for example Workflow, Process Mining, Reporting, and Reconciliation tools) and make sure it is complete, integrated, and readily available to Operations users globally
  • Lead implementation of 'low code' solutions for ICG Operations users, ensuring best-in-class capabilities are made available with complete integration with ICG's Data Architecture, SDLC, and Inventory process
  • Work with the EAP leadership team to ensure complete integration of Operations technology strategy with Business Architecture, Codified Controls, and Data Architecture
  • Work closely with the ICG Business Architecture team to map out, measure, and identify areas of optimisation of Operational processes across the bank
  • Act as a changemaker for our cultural and agile transformation with a focus on diversity and inclusion
  • Apply sound ethical judgement regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify potential risk issues that need escalation and escalates them promptly, and support the development of appropriate and diligent responses and remediation plans when regulatory issues and concerns are identified
  • Ensure key metrics and OKRs are well defined and clearly communicated with relevant stakeholders

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge / Experience
  • Proven track record of effective Engineering leadership, with experience in a complex Operational environment, across teams in multiple locations and successfully implementing transformative changes to the organization and revolutionizing processes and organizational attitudes.
  • Experience in Due Diligence (Third-Party / Client) experience, with an awareness of key regulatory oversight obligations advantageous
  • Ability to build relationships with and influence colleagues, business leaders and functional partners.
  • Confident communicator with ability to provide clear and succinct verbal and written updates; share strategic direction with the community and stakeholders.
  • Thinks strategically and partner with teams to solve problems and continuously improve processes and controls
  • Ability to drive issue resolution, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to execute consistently on deliverables and communicate status updates and strategic direction to community.
  • Be a highly motivated individual with advanced strategy, problem solving, and transformation as well as strong influencing, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong team player with aptitude for risk management, compliance and oversight and control.
  • Motivated self-starter, with the ability to pick up and learn new skills and knowledge quickly
Qualifications
  • Experience with agile delivery from building to coaching teams to achieve client value with speed
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern software development processes and practices
  • Experience with modernizing and migrating applications/clients to strategic architectures
  • Experience in collaborating and influencing across regional/global cross-functional teams
  • Experience with technology control frameworks and regulatory attestations and audits
  • Ability to build and maintain peer and business partnerships to support overall success of the ICG organization.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate with internal stakeholders, third parties, clients and regulators
  • Bachelors or master's degree with a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or equivalent work experience.
