Bovill is an independent, specialist financial services regulatory consultancy with a global offering. We specialise in helping clients solve difficult and interesting problems, so we look for people who thrive on intellectual challenge, can roll up their sleeves to delve into issues and get satisfaction from helping clients, conduct a thorough analysis of a problem and translate that into practical advice.

The Funds Practice delivers high quality regulatory advice and support to our clients in the specialist areas of asset management, funds, private equity, corporate finance and real estate.

We are now looking for a highly motivated, proactive compliance consultant to join our team in providing high quality, specialist advice to our clients.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing high quality advice and support to clients on a range of regulatory compliance matters which may involve:
    • drafting and maintaining policies, procedures and compliance monitoring programmes
    • delivering training sessions and workshops for compliance staff and senior management
    • carrying out compliance health checks and periodic monitoring
    • assisting with regulatory matters including authorisation applications and variations of permission
    • responding to ad-hoc and routine regulatory queries
  • Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients by:
    • responding to all queries, managing client expectations and delegating work, where necessary
    • reviewing the work of colleagues and providing constructive feedback
    • ensuring accurate invoicing, timely payment and assisting the Finance team in resolving any queries
    • dealing with any complaints quickly and effectively
  • Actively partner with global sector teams to support and deliver on shared projects and responsibilities, where required

As you will be responsible for developing a pipeline of clients through generating new leads and leveraging existing relationships, prior consulting experience would be advantageous.

Successful applicants will have:
  • A degree, ideally in a relevant subject
  • Relevant, diploma level professional qualification (investment or compliance-related), or willing to study towards
  • Significant compliance-related experience gained at a financial institution, legal practice, consultancy and/or the regulator
  • Strong technical knowledge and at least 5 years' experience of advising funds, private equity, corporate finance, asset management and/or real estate firms.
  • Deep understanding of the FCA's policies and procedures
  • Experience translating regulatory rules and guidance into meaningful, fit-for-purpose and pragmatic solutions for clients
  • Proven track record of exceeding financial goals and sales targets; consulting experience would be advantageous
  • Experience managing client relationships
  • A broad understanding and an appetite to keep learning.

Given the technical nature of the work we do, exceptional communication skills and high attention-to-detail are paramount.

When the opportunity arises, you may also be required to assist other teams and clients on a wider range of regulatory matters, so a willingness to develop your knowledge across the spectrum and to collaborate on work outside of your main areas of expertise is encouraged.

In return we offer:
  • The opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial, fast moving, stimulating environment
  • Strong career development support - mentoring, coaching, relevant training and development - to enable your progression
  • The opportunity to work closely with, and learn from, our global team of regulatory experts
  • A small informal company environment with minimal bureaucracy
  • A competitive salary, performance-related discretionary bonus, and flexible benefits package

Bovill actively supports flexible working and currently enjoys a hybrid working environment with a minimum of one to two days per week in the office. We welcome applications from candidates who wish to work part-time, flexible start & finish or compressed hours.
