Role Description:

We are looking for an experienced Gloss developer for a project improving stability in our applications. The application supports a business process within the trading cycle and is crucial to multiple business groups.

  • Analyse requirements, design and build solutions for changes to the trades processing applications in the EMEA region.
  • Interacting and building relationships with stakeholders, including business sponsors to understand and refine requirements.
  • Engage effectively with the Project management team and ensure the changes are delivered on time.
  • Responsible for delivering solutions for specific changes - either individually or as part of a larger project team.

The Team:
The EMEA transaction processing applications support upwards of 3 million transactions a day. The applications are based on both legacy and strategic platforms The team delivers a large volumes of business driven changes throughout the year including technical performance stability improvements.

The Transaction Processing team within GMOT Securities is a collaborative team working out of London and Dublin and off shore in India. The team is a mix of people skilled in technology or business functions with many members taking on multiple roles for analysing and developing changes. This is a very dynamic team with team members working on multiple items at the same time. The culture is one of excellence, team work, learning, delivered value and believing in our people. We are looking for people who love to learn and take initiative to really make this happen.

We have moved from traditional application aligned software delivery methods to highly agile cross functional and component teams. You would be working in an agile team delivering projects across business functions and technologies. This is one of the most interesting times to join our team.

Core Skills:
  • Hands on experience as a technologist with experience in programming languages C, SQL Server.
  • Hands on experience on Gloss applications
  • Experience with working on data repository tools like git, bit bucket, subversion etc.
  • A good background in modern OO language with experience in at least one of Java/Scala/Python/C#.
  • A history of consistent experience in successful application development in multiple technologies - we value a wide ranging experience and prefer people who have worked on many different types of projects.
  • An understanding of fundamental algorithms and ability to optimize existing code, for example oracle tuning.
  • Good communications skills are essential as all members of the team will have direct exposure to the business. Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills to support and shape the platform and clearly articulate technical designs and concepts.
  • Have a passion for developing best in class technology solutions
  • Demonstrate a desire for continual self-improvement through learning & development
  • Relationship building skills
  • A team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, e.g. believe in pair programming, collaborative working skills

Desirable:
  • Experience of having worked in the Financial Industry will be an advantage.
  • Experience of Specification by Example / TDD
  • Follows clean code principles.
  • Experience of Agile methods.
  • Experienced in using design patterns and following best software engineering practices.
  • Experience in working on high performance and high availability system development.
