The Role: The Associate Editor of EMEA Oilseeds is the price reporter and pricing specialist covering Platts' suite of oilseeds spot prices and writing news and analysis on the EMEA oilseeds markets.

Responsibilities: The Associate Editor for EMEA Oilseeds is responsible for establishing market coverage on vegetable oils and adjacent markets in Europe and the Black Sea, reporting on daily physical trading activity. The editor is also responsible for writing daily commentaries explaining the trends driving prices, creating news stories and participating in multi-media coverage such as webinars and presentations, including representing Platts at industry events.
The editor is also responsible for engaging with market participants while building and managing a database of industry contacts. The editor also identifies opportunities to refine methodology and launch new price assessments with the goal to advance growth in the Agriculture team.

Day timings: Covering the oilseeds market involves starting work by 9:30am London. The oilseeds price reporter will typically be able to finish work by 5:30pm, depending on commodity market conditions.

Your Skills:
  • BA degree or higher
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of role types and personalities, internally and externally
  • Self-starter mindset with effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform well to tight deadlines
  • Excellent English writing skills
  • Culturally and socially sensitive
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two to five years' reporting/writing/analytical/editorial experience
  • Experience or knowledge of the agriculture sector
  • Keen interest in commodities and global commodity markets
  • Knowledge of economic principles
  • Strong numeracy skills including ability to understand the basic principles of statistics and to apply basic maths functions in Excel
  • Fluency in relevant international languages an advantage
