Role Description

X-Hub is FNZ's asset and model portfolio management product.

We seek a product to help us identify detailed requirements asset managers have for building and operating funds and model portfolios.

One of the high-level requirements is to publish model portfolios to many FNZ platforms, each of which are configured differently and might operate in different jurisdictions. Business analyst work is required to understand the integration requirements, including tax-wrapper details, handling of cash, financial instrument availability, and substitute assets.

Each FNZ platform has a segregated and secure hosting environment, so a coordinated effort with solid analysis is required to ensure that network connectivity is established reliably and securely.

Team Responsibilities

This role is within the Product Office, which produces software for use by millions of users in total. The Portfolio Management team within this division develops and maintains a model portfolio management application, which is integrated with most of FNZ's largest client platforms.

This model portfolio management software (X-Hub) will be enhanced and expanded significantly to cater to the needs of asset managers in addition to the current discretionary portfolio manager users.

The role fits alongside product analysts, developers, and testers for related software applications.

Specific Role Responsibilities

A key product stakeholder who understands the users' and customers' needs and has a detailed holistic view of the X-Hub product.

An SME who provides expert knowledge about the X-Hub, including:
  • Participation in workshops and demonstrations as required
  • Support the sales process and product road shows as required
  • Review and understand client and/or internal business requirements to ensure comprehensive capture of need to determine architecture solution.
  • Influence and input into design sessions to ensure that requirements are robust, complete and will provide necessary information to create a complete and comprehensive solution design.
  • Ensure that any new developments/enhancements adhere to procedural, regulatory compliance or security requirements;


A key decision maker, responsible for:
  • the successful outcome of the X-Hub
  • product scope, operational changes, version Scope, business solution
  • considering which activities will produce the most business value - making tough decisions
  • feeding into & reviewing the X-Hub roadmap and backlog
  • ensuring that product documentation is kept up to date


An experienced analyst who can is able to:
  • Validate the work and estimates going on within client projects
  • Create Solution Designs that make efficient use of technology and process, and design a product offering that aligns with FNZ's product and architectural objectives and standards.
  • Direct, review and oversee the creation of Solution Designs by System Analysts and Solution Consultants that accurately translate need to allow technologists to build efficient and scalable systems;
  • Educate end clients to ensure they understand any technical design changes required within their connected systems to ensure a workable solution.
  • Liaise with technical architects and ensure solution design is technically buildable and can make efficient use of technology.
  • Collaborate closely with other business areas to ensure entire solution works end to end and delivers on both internal and external expectations and is aligned with FNZ strategic direction
  • Assist with X-Hub product test requirements, as required.


A communicator able discuss business issues of a wider and/or cross-divisional nature with other FNZ staff:
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts and managers to design, document and present the proposition to the client/internal users as required;


Education and Experience Requirements
  • University degree in business, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or similar
  • Work experience in the investments industry.


In addition, the following would be desirable:
  • Asset management in a fund analyst role or similar.
  • Experience with asset management software, such as Bloomberg, FactSet, and similar.
  • Knowledge of fund management procedures from research through to trading
  • Knowledge of software development procedures (e.g. Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Experience in capturing and recording software/product requirements from prospects/customers.
  • Experience with financial models, e.g. from a bank.
  • Careful attention to detail.
