This is a great opportunity for an experienced economist looking to move into investment management and to influence asset allocation decisions or for a macro strategist looking to further enhance their skills. The role reports to the Chief Economist and is based in London.

Key Deliverables

  • Contribute to the development of the City of London top down allocation across developed, emerging and frontier economies
  • Apply macro insights to asset allocation as part of the firm's investment process
  • Participate in the production of the relevant monthly and quarterly client publications
  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers to share insights and analysis
  • Deliver clear and concise macro views and analysis internally and to clients and prospects


Main Challenges

  • The successful candidate will be comfortable working on macro analysis across G10, emerging and frontier markets.
  • The candidate will be intellectually curious and familiar with current research debates in macroeconomics and/or asset pricing.
  • Out-of-the-box thinking, ease of use of non-traditional concepts, novel data series and national balance sheets will be a plus
  • S/he will have a strong understanding of economic data, policy & geopolitical issues


Skills & Requirements

  • Strong academic record with qualifications in Economics, Finance or a related field at MA/MSc level or higher from a reputable university
  • Proven work experience in economic research, investment strategy, or asset allocation (buy or sell side)
  • Strong knowledge of Fixed Income and/or equity markets.
  • Experience in econometrics/financial modelling is a plus.
  • Familiarity handling economic and financial data (Bloomberg, Datastream, etc)
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce reports in condensed and precise language
  • Outstanding communicator with strong presentation skills
  • Team player with a positive and pro-active attitude; a willingness to take on projects and responsibilities
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
