Job Description
The Bank of New York Mellon seeks a Specialist, Treasury and ALM to perform policy writing, liquidity assessments, analytical research, data gathering, calculations, modeling and forecasting related to controlling the risks associated with assets, liabilities, liquidity funding, capital and IRR management.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders and build a broad range of knowledge spanning the range of treasury, capital, and asset and liability categories across the organization and its varied products/services.
  • Perform modeling within Intraday Liquidity, Deposit Liabilities, Interest Rate Risk, Currency Risk, and Capital Management.
  • Provide support for the local/regional production and submission of Treasury related information to legal entity governance committees.
  • Review and analyze standard capital and asset liabilities management activities.
  • Ensure legal entities are in compliance with their regulatory and/or internal liquidity metrics.
  • Collect financial data, validate, and populate various capital management, IRR, liquidity and asset/liability models or analyses.
  • Run the model/analyses, conduct liquidity stress testing and report on results.
  • Ensure models are functioning as expected, troubleshoot, and report on unexpected/undesired results.
  • Escalate unprecedented or complex issues to more senior team members/management.
  • Conduct special projects and ad-hoc analyses/reporting as requested. Monitor the regulatory environment, conduct applicable research and make recommendations for responding to emerging/changing regulatory requirements affecting ALM, Capital or Liquidity Funding.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and Corporate guidance related to liquidity, capital, and IRR aspects including underlying assumptions and limitations to risk management framework.
  • Ensure alignment to liquidity risk position and any regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and document liquidity self-assessments and liquidity funding contingency plans. Contribute to reports that provide clear and accurate analyses and that identify and track risks.
  • Ensure proper controls on the quality and integrity of reports produced for senior management and ALM committee processes.
  • Cultivate relationships with peers in the businesses, Risk Management, Finance and Corporate Treasury to ensure efficient collection of data/model inputs.
  • Provide advice on specific business decisions that will affect liquidity, capital, or interest rate risk.
  • Conduct projects and participate in discussions with investment and asset-liability professionals on allocation decisions and risk management.
  • Provide leadership to less experienced team members, guiding and coaching them on their work accuracy and quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Finance, Economics, Analytical Finance, Finance or a related field and significant years of progressively responsible experience in job offered or related occupation.
  • Significant years of progressively responsible experience must include:
    • Developing and supporting Asset Liability Management (ALM) models, market risk, liquidity and pricing models for large complex financial institutions;
    • Utilizing statistical and financial modeling, integrating data analytics concepts to financial services industry, and translating business challenges into Data Science problems;
    • Working on analytical projects related to CCAR forecasting models, Deposits forecast models, with domain expertise in Loans and Deposits products;
    • Supporting the validation of models, providing testing and analysis at the request of Model Risk Management;
    • Working with stakeholders including Lines of Business and senior management, articulating data science solutions in a clear and effective manner;
    • Developing models using object-oriented programming (OOP) including Python and analytical software including SAS;
    • Working with large datasets and languages and software including SQL, Microsoft Excel and VBA;
    • Supporting model documentation, analysis and presentations to senior management and responses to regulatory inquiries.
