London Market Specialty insurer are recruiting for an experience Credit Analyst to join their team in London. You will join one of the most aggressively growing Credit & Political risk portfolio in the market.

The role

You will substantially contribute to the development and the strategic direction of the account .Generating profitable income and technical/commercial expertise.

1. Senior Analytical support and Portfolio management (including MI) of the Political and Structured Credit accounts in accordance with the underwriting guidelines and business plan

2. Credit (Private and Public Obligors) and portfolio analytics expertise; a team-wide referral point of contact for underwriters to review cases and allocate analytical work to the credit team.

3. Training of junior and new team members on an on-going basis for credit and country analysis as well as portfolio monitoring, reporting and MI.

4. Senior contributor to strategic planning, account development, risk referral and peer review + ad hoc project work to support Team Head as the account growths

Key accountabilities

Credit and Portfolio Analyst and Manger
  • Provide robust review of and recommendation on individual new enquiries and obligors (public and private)
  • Document analysis and recommendation on individual credit reviews and complete the associated tools for data capture
  • Complete specific project work as required by Team Head
  • Monitor, Analyse and generate Management Information (MI) for the existing and growing account portfolio
  • Manage Credit Unit colleagues to provide Underwriting colleagues with individual credit reviews in a timely fashion and to monitor the portfolio to assess the performance of the account + On-going training and development of Credit Unit colleagues
  • To contribute to strategic discussions on the direction and development of the portfolio


Client/Broker Relations
  • Attend ad hoc client/stakeholder meetings as well as relevant industry events.
  • Attend &/or set-up 3rd party information provider calls and meetings (S&P, IHS, Factiva, Credit Benchmark etc)


Technical Expertise
  • Credit Analysis (Company and Country level)
  • Portfolio monitoring, management and generation/review of Management Information
  • Further tasks and functions which will benefit from an experienced and senior analytical figure


Process Improvement
  • Identify and enhance the quality and value of processes for your area of work


Project Management
  • End to end project management for functional projects and contribute to any Branch wide projects


Risk and Controls
  • Design, implement and maintain process controls to ensure the quality of the output for your area/team within the function. Ensure documentation of the processes and output is accurate, up-to-date and accessible


Reporting
  • Design, deliver, develop and analyse reports, identify and recommend solutions to reporting issues in line with group/branch requirements


Skills & experience

Specialist:Systems, problem solving, negotiation, influencing, sales
  • Technical credit analysis (company and country) knowledge
  • Substantial portfolio management (inc MI) knowledge
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence
  • Commercial awareness

I. Qualifications

Education:

Academic.

• Degree level or equivalent working experience

Ideally CFA charter holder

Experience:
Vocational or on-the-job

• 7+ years analytical experience
