Job Purpose Statement

The Head of Business Analysis is a new position which will provide a critical capability and function within the Business Change Department for Columbia Threadneedle. The role will primarily act as a practice lead, driving standards and execution of analysis practices across the Change Portfolio in support of the firms long term strategic transformation plan. Together with the development of the BA Practice this role will have direct responsibility of all Business Analysts ensuring that work assignments are allocated and managed effectively, and career development is handled for each resource.

Role Responsibilities

How you'll spend your time...

1. Practice Development - Build out a best in class Asset Management Business Analysis Change Practice working with the Head of Global Change and other key areas of leadership (including Head of PMO and Head of Delivery) in support of the firms strategic change plan. This will include evolving the practice both to incorporate new ways of operating and implement any changes that arise centrally around change. This entails ensuring effective deployment of BA skills into any delivery framework and model adopted by Ameriprise and used within Columbia Threadneedle (Waterfall, Agile, Continuous Improvement/LEAN, Consulting engagements, etc).

2. Provide all programmes with ongoing support and monitoring of effective allocation and use of Business Analysts. This will include hands on day-day management, co-ordination and resolution of enterprise issues that span programmes and areas of knowledge.

3. End-End Resource Management - this includes all facets of the resource lifecycle including recruiting, onboarding, developing mentor schemes and associated inductions, establishing career pathways and plans, development and performance planning. In addition the Head of the BA Practice will be expected to develop key relationships with strategic recruiting partners to assist with critical hires and augmentation opportunities for specific initiatives.

4. Lead the implementation of the new operating model for Business Change across the change portfolio in the area of the Business Analysis Practice and Competency. This will include liaising with all stakeholder groups including Technology, Data, Operations, Risk, 3rd parties for implementing changes around WoW (Ways of Working) and implementing any changes to process. A direct responsibility will be to ensure that all key controls for business analysis are embedded within the change delivery frameworks, working closely with PMO and Programme Managers to monitor dates for controls testing and evidencing. These will then be supplied into respective steering committees and specific risk forums such as the RCC at regular intervals in order that bi-annual RCSA attestations can be made by the Head of Change and Transformation.

5. Onboarding and Business Mgmt. support - the role holder will be required to work with the Operations / Business Management areas of Change ensuring that there is efficient management of items that impact the functioning of the Client Experience programme. This will include monitoring of resourcing onboarding, liaison with GTC Ops and Tech for technology and facilities provision, developing suitable onboarding plans to assist with quick familiarisation of CTI people, tools, and practices for any new hires.

6. Change adoption and Benefits Realisation support - Provide direct support to review and monitor the outcomes delivered through change and formulate assessments and recommendations on how to feedback lessons learned and trends into how we approach future change initiatives.

Key Capabilities

To be successful in this role you will have...

- Expertise in utilizing industry-standard Business Analysis methodologies and techniques, this includes any areas around process engineering and continuous improvement.
- Proven track record from within the Asset Manager sector at leading significant Transformations from within the Analysis Practice and having hands on experience of leading the business through Integration programmes at scale
- Solid and proven experience of working across change, technology, and data with front-back experience preferred. This includes understanding at a detailed level the internal workings of Asset Managers, selling and distributing products across multiple markets and client channels (Wholesale, Institutional Seg, Insurance, Solutions) through to management and execution of trading activity across portfolios and funds, through to middle and back office functions.
- Given the nature of the company and penetration across multiple geographies, the candidate should have a strong knowledge of the legal and compliance landscape and able to identify how to build up a regulatory practice of specialists alongside functional experts
- Significant experience with developing talent and establishing communities of practice. (including a data BA practice)
- Strong relationship building skills; highly effective communication skills that include ability to gain acceptance of others to a point of view.
- Ability to identify and provide support to resolve/mitigate issues or risks associated with change and transformation within Asset Management.
