Job Purpose Statement

The Portfolio Managers Assistant ("PMA") will be responsible for providing essential support to the Fixed Income and Commodities Investments teams to add value to the investment process and increase and strengthen front office controls.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract (FTC) with a possibility of converting to a permanent position.

Role Responsibilities

In this role you will:

• Provide operational support to the Portfolio Managers ("PMs"). This will include:
o Input and 4-eye checking of trade orders
o Management of cash flow movements
o Monitoring and managing corporate action opportunities
o Monitoring and responding to Compliance violations
o Run, review and reconcile any daily desk reports
o Query resolution and other ad hoc requests
o New Instrument and Country request instruction and process monitoring

• Become Aladdin (order management) systems expert, representing desk / group interests at 'superuser meeting, identifying and following up on any enhancements.
• Represent supported Investment Desks in any projects, initiatives, client on-boardings and enhancements.
• Adhere to all risk and control policies in undertaking all support activities.
• Liaise with the Front Office Assurance & Oversight team and the PMs to report errors and suggest process improvements.
• Continually challenge and implement process improvements.
• Integrate with the Investment teams and create strong open lines of communication with the PMs and other PMAs.
• Identify and escalate to Management and PMs any potential risks in process and/or activity.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external parties.
• Support the Fixed Income and Commodities Business Manager with any initiatives affecting the asset class when requested.

Key Capabilities

  • Experience within the financial industry, asset management or similar.
  • Portfolio Management Assistant role experience
  • Strong Bloomberg knowledge
  • Knowledge of Order Management Systems such as Aladdin
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Good administration, organisational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail/accuracy.
  • Effective communicator (both written and oral).
  • Team-orientated but able to act on own initiative.

  • Technical and coding skills e.g. python, VBA
