Who we're looking for

We are looking for a Business Analyst to join the Corporate Governance Technology Team. The Corporate Governance Technology team has a broad remit across the varied and complex requirements of its numerous stakeholders and application estate.

We need someone who can effectively partner with our business stakeholders to understand, their challenges, the importance of governance driven by both regulation and to meet industry best standards, balanced against constant demand for delivery. Financial Services experience is highly desirable.

About Schroders

We're a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 5,000 people on six continents. And we've been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn't change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society prosper.

Technology at Schroders

Schroders Global Technology (GT) function is organised into a number of teams, distributed across Schroders' global offices, with Technology hubs in London, Zurich, Luxembourg, Singapore and New York.

The software development and technology change function is split between five domains: Investment Technology; Digital, Distribution and Marketing Technology; Operations and Private Assets Technology; Corporate Technology; and Wealth Technology.

In addition there are teams which operate as shared services to Technology namely Infrastructure Production Services (production support, release and access control), Information Security and Risk, Enterprise Technology and the GT Management Office in which sit our Business Management teams (change management, assurance and reporting) and our Chief of Staff.

Our application estate comprises commercially-available off-the-shelf software packages best suited to Schroders' operational needs, complimented by a number of internally-developed proprietary systems to support the specific needs of the clients and products that our colleagues support.

The Global Technology vision is to ensure a stable operating environment that can function at multiple speeds, that focuses on value delivered to our external and internal customers. With a culture of excellence through collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement, Global Technology enables Schroders to deliver the best outcomes for clients and shareholders.

In order to ensure that the emergent technology needs of our clients, regulators and internal stakeholders are able to be met quickly and effectively Schroders has implemented agile working practices within Global Technology. So that this is achieved without compromising the stability and security of the platform, Schroders Global Technology is implementing a bespoke agile operating model, based on the SAFe methodology, which ensures that technology support and infrastructure is unaffected and the requisite governance and control is in place.

Corporate Technology

The Corporate Technology department provides global system development and support capability for over 50 applications used by our Corporate Services stakeholders such as Finance, Compliance, Legal, HR, Procurement and Risk. The application technology stack managed by the team consists primarily of 3rd party software, both Cloud hosted and on premise.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. We offer flexible working appropriate for a client solutions focussed role.

The team

The Corporate Governance Technology Team is a team of business analysts and developers who provide application development and support capability for a large number of key global applications for our stakeholders: Compliance, Legal, Governance, Procurement and Risk. The application technology stack managed by the team consists of Cloud hosted third-party and in-house built software. Our key initiatives include Communications Surveillance, Financial Crime Screening and Monitoring, Board Governance and Monitoring, Supplier Onboarding and Oversight as well as Counterparty Risk Management and Monitoring.

This is not an ordinary Business Analyst role. An Agile Analyst is responsible for owning and managing the work items assigned to them; working with business and technology stakeholders directly and coordinating with internal developers and testers. You will be involved at every stage of the software development lifecycle.

We enjoy solving problems together and are focused on delivering value to our clients.

What you'll do

Represent the Corporate Governance Technology Team to multiple stakeholders across numerous projects to ensure the delivery of business benefits to the users of our applications. Key aspects of the role will include:

• Analysis of functional, business and technical requirements into flexible, strategic solutions
• Offer consultancy to business and technology stakeholders
• Perform analysis to support the requirement and evaluate the viability of the solution
• Produce and keep all documentation up to date and stored in a shared location
• Work closely with the development and support teams to help them understand the requirement
• Support the full project/product lifecycle through to implementation.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

• Experience of Financial Services and corporate/regtech knowledge
• Experience mapping current state and target state flows and diagrams (using Visio)
• Strong data analysis and modelling skills (using excel, relational databases)
• Working with senior stakeholders and users as well as developers, Solutions Architects and QAs
• Logical, structured thought processes and good problem-solving
• Relationship management and business engagement
• Track-record of delivery within large programmes using SAFe, Scrum, Kanban and Waterfall methodologies
• Experience of both in-house software delivery and 3rd party vendor application delivery.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

• Structured analysis techniques
• Able to engage with stakeholders in both Business and Technology
• Able to challenge stakeholders diplomatically but robustly when appropriate
• Multi-disciplined and able to provide support throughout SDLC
• Capable of balancing timely delivery against strategic development
• Detailed and logical approach with full traceability of analysis
• Pro-active and delivery-focused.

What you'll be like

• A team oriented individual
• Flexible, self-motivated, enthusiastic and wanting to learn
• A critical thinker who's able to look at things from different angles
• Great at unpicking a problem, from start to end, own and deliver the solution
• Able to work under pressure, on several priorities at once
• Great at working with other people, sharing and communicating decisions
• Keen to improve what we do for our clients.

We're looking for the best, whoever they are
