As a Barclays Lead Risk Analyst - Business Banking you will be responsible for analytical support in designing credit policies across the customer lifecycle. This includes the setting of credit parameters for all programmes impacting customers to ensure loss rates remain within risk appetite whilst the expected reward is achieved. This is a great opportunity where you can work with a knowledgeable team to provide insight and recommendations in order to support the creation of risk strategies.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We're flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances

What will you be doing?
• Providing source data from various data warehouses and external partners
• You will be responsible for producing high quality insights and recommendations to support underwriting strategy design and exposure optimisation
• Providing insight and recommendations in order to support in the creation of risk strategies to contain the cost of risk and achieve P&L / impairment targets
• You will be responsible for in-depth monitoring of performance of certain credit policies, highlighting trends / insights and driving corrective actions
• Delivering clear, concise, and effective communication of proposed strategy changes to team leader and other key stakeholders, including presentation at relevant forums
• Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements
• Effectively and concisely communicate key issues and ideas through correspondences and verbally without supervision
• Creating and implementing project task plans to accomplish business plan objectives, understanding the business plan and ensuring it is driven for the most value add
What we're looking for:
• Practical experience of using analytics to solve complex business problems
• Advanced understanding of standard statistical package (SAS preferred) and Excel
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Excellent academic background in a mathematical discipline e.g. mathematics, statistics, physics etc.
• Experience designing credit strategies on a retail credit portfolio
• SAS experience

Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997.
We purchased the building from the landlord in early 2018 as a sign of our commitment to investment in Northampton. Plans to further develop this Campus-style location are under way to allow for a real collaborative work environment. Based just off the A45 it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
