The Role:

The organisation is undertaking a number of major change programmes to deliver the transformation, business growth targets and BAU and regulatory change programme. It is critical to have a comprehensive and joined up approach to Risk oversight to provide challenge and support to the business ambitions, and to ensure that the significantly heightened operational and execution risk entailed is efficiently managed.

To enable implementation and delivery of the agreed approach for monitoring, assessing and reporting change risk, the Change Risk Team provide the following:
• Independent embedded assurance & deep dive reviews
• Risk engagement and oversight at programme and project level for Change & Transformation projects
• Provision of regular MI and Reporting on Change & Transformation projects to senior stakeholder Boards and Committees

An opportunity has arisen to join the team on a 12-month FTC focusing on providing 2nd LOD oversight of the Investments change portfolio.

Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • Provide risk oversight and independent assurance challenge on 1st line identification and assessment of risks in line with the transformation risk categories: Design, Delivery and Business Disruption
  • Manage and coordinate Risk & Compliance Opinions where most effective, including those accompanying Business Cases seeking Board approval, Approval Committee Recommendations (ACR) and 'Go/No-Go decisions', challenging and escalating where risk is not in line with risk appetite
  • Manage and coordinate Assurance Reviews, (including stage gate, deep dive and thematic reviews) in line with agreed Assurance Plan, , working in conjunction with Group-wide Internal Audit and other third party assurance teams, as appropriate, challenging and escalating where risk is not in line with risk appetite
  • Provide timely reporting and MI across Programme and Projects on progress and risk assessment to relevant governance committees, including the Executive and Board Risk Committees
  • Review and assess the emerging themes and any issues escalated by the Risk & Compliance Leads
  • Embed and enable a way of working in relation to the wider Risk community engagement across Programme and projects to ensure Risk & Compliance input and assurance at the earliest opportunity in the project lifecycle and in the most effective way

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • An excellent understanding of an Asset Management business, including key operational processes and systems
  • A background in Risk Management in a 1st, 2nd or 3rd line role previously and have a strong understanding of programme /project risk management and the interface and governance between the 3 lines of defence structure
  • Experience of building and managing strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Good understanding and application in cost and benefit management
  • Experience in Risk and Issues management (as well as Assumptions and Dependencies would be beneficial)
  • SME knowledge in Risk Management in a Financial Services organisation
  • Experience of providing analysis, guidance and position statements to tight deadlines
  • Experience of clearly disseminating complex quality information to internal and external stakeholders and ensuring key messages and their implications are understood

  • Challenges upwards given knowledge of delivery and awareness of complex systems and the broader picture
  • Identifies and anticipates need for changes to continuously improve quality and efficiency of output
