Reporting to team lead of Fund Accounting Operational Risk Management, the Operational Risk Officer (ORO) will be part of a global team within the 2nd line of defence providing Op Risk coverage with a specialization in the review of Operational Risk Events and other key elements of the Operational Risk Framework.

Job Description:
Reporting to team lead of Fund Accounting Operational Risk Management, the Operational Risk Officer (ORO) will be part of a global team within the 2nd line of defence providing Op Risk coverage with a specialization in the review of Operational Risk Events and other key elements of the Operational Risk Framework.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the 1LOD in execution of key elements of the operational risk framework, including Risk & Control Self Assessments, Key Risk Indicators, Operational Risk Events and Business Process Change risk assessments.
- Significant focus on the review of ORES - will support the 1LOD in the identification and review of OREs, including completion of root cause analysis, follow on action plans and collection of required source documentation.
- Will lead training of ORE review fundamentals to 1LOD and 2LOD staff members
- Responsible for identification of material risks, assess the effectiveness of control design and ensure that control gaps are closed.
- Will also support Fund Accounting Operational Risk team in key program enhancement initiatives including manual process remediation and integration of manual processes into the Operational Risk framework.
- Responsible for appropriately escalating and framing risk issues to the Risk and Compliance management team.
- Ensures that all challenge and issues raised are suitably evidenced and recorded.
- Strong understanding of BNY Mellon products and operations
- Able to develop and establish collaborative working relationships with colleagues in both lines of defense to ensure a timely and complete Operational Risk framework execution.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leaders across 1LOD RMs, Operations Control, Operations and Risk Management.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to learn and assimilate new information quickly.
- 5-10 years of total work experience preferred.
- An understanding of the Operational Risk Framework and its associated risk tools
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
