About the Team

Card Payments Processing is at the core of the payment journey for all merchants processing through our gateway. As a critical part of the payment processing flow, downtime, errors, and delays in processing directly translate into lost revenue for our merchants. Because of this, performance, reliability, scalability, and observability are the development principles that the team lives by. This team is also responsible for all features related to scheme compliance, global expansion and 3rd party acquirers.

About the Role

We're looking for a hard-working Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who is going to take a leading role in evaluating and refining the quality strategy for our projects that currently consists of extensive automation suite, as well as manual testing. In this role you'll iterate on the test automation strategy and co-own the underlying testing frameworks.

Our team brings a software engineering perspective to achieving quality at scale, driving automation to deliver product increments faster to our merchant customers. We want to empower engineering teams to deploy whatever, whenever with confidence, while maximizing the availability and accuracy of our services.

This role reports directly to the senior leader of the Card Payments Processing engineering team and will join a small squad of highly experienced SDETs operating across the entire domain.

Responsiblities
    • Establish and deliver the quality strategy for team based on the ideal blend of automation and manual testing
    • Collaborate with Software Engineers and SDETs to improve testability, effectiveness, coverage, automation, frameworks and tools
    • Design and develop test automation tools and test frameworks for integration and acceptance testing
    • Implement tools to gather relevant metrics (e.g. test coverage), analyze test data and results to identify patterns, and influence software quality
    • Collaborate with other teams to embed our services in the weekly system-wide automated load test runs
    • Engage with our DevOps team to enhance the integration of our automated testing into our CI/CD pipeline, aiming to optimize our testing cycles
    • Analyze complex business requirements related to card schemes and third party acquirers, becoming an SME capable of leading and executing testing during all stages of development and release cycle
    • Share insights, solutions, and best practices within the team and across the business
    • Identify process deficiencies and suggest improvements; champion innovative ideas
    • Help forecast and manage the product's test schedules, dependencies and resources
Requirements
    • Passion for Quality Assurance and software engineering
    • Strong, proven programming skills (any of JavaScript, TypeScript, C# or Java)
    • Architecture and creation of automation frameworks, test harnesses, and test tools
    • Experience writing automated backend tests of RESTful APIs and microservices
    • Experience with performance and stress testing (e.g. using k6)
    • Comfortable using client tools like Postman
    • Native cloud experience, preferably using AWS
    • Fluent with modern DevOps practices, CI/CD, etc.
