The Analytics & Digitalization team has a global remit within Internal Audit, reporting to the Global Head of Analytics & Digitalization who reports to the Global Head of Wholesale Audit, both based in London. Nomura Internal Audit adopts a fully integrated audit approach, and the Analytics & Digitalization team is expected to work closely with technology and business auditors. Furthermore, the Analytics & Digitalization team is responsible for defining and implementing the Internal Audit global data analytics and digitalization strategy. Role description:

A vacancy exists for a Python Developer contractor with an inclination for Data Science and predictive analytics to join the Nomura Internal Audit Analytics & Digitalization team in EMEA. This opportunity suits highly motivated candidates who have solid python programming and data science skills. The remit is twofold. While the role's primary focus is to support IA's digitalization strategy through audit automation and predictive analytics, the role may also require to design and execute data analytics to support the auditors in understanding business and control outcomes. This role is an opportunity for candidates with Python programming and/or a data science working experience, to join the Internal Audit department of an Investment Bank. The role will suit best candidates who work independently albeit in a collaborative manner and have a strong appetite for learning new skills and leading edge technologies. Auditors with both advanced Python programming and data analytics working experience are also welcome to apply.

Key objectives critical to success:
  • Maintain, develop and expand Internal Audit's portfolio of Continuous Auditing (Data Analytics tools) and Audit Automation solutions. The IA solutions are a set of desktop based applications (Apps) developed for auditors and designed to automate some of the audit activities that would otherwise be manual. Predictive analytics will be a key area of focus for the development of new audit automation solutions.
  • Maintain, develop and expand IA's DA Infrastructure. The DA Infrastructure is IA's platform to build IA solutions including DA tools and support auditors' use of technology in audits. The successful candidate will be encouraged to advise and influence the strategic development of IA's DA Infrastructure.
  • As a key member of the Analytics & Digitalization team, the successful candidate may lead and execute data analytics assignments in accordance with departmental audit standards and methodology, including:
    • Fast prototyping of different data analytics ideas and re-usable solutions for analysing data to generate insights.
    • Identify and obtain data to analyse for audits assignments by conducting data interviews, and follow up as necessary until data is satisfactorily and completely obtained. Understand data structures and lineage, develop and evaluate solutions to extract data for audit testing if necessary.
    • Visualise data analytics results and present findings through visualisation tools and dashboards.
  • Contribute to the expansion of Internal Audit digitalization strategy.
  • Educate non-data minded colleagues in understanding the importance of data and technology in Financial Services.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
  • Undergraduate and/or Graduate or higher education qualification.
  • Bachelor's and/or Masters degree in Computer Science and/or Data Science.

  • This role requires a minimum of 3 years working experience Python programming and to be familiar with Linux/Unix environments (e.g. Linux Red Hat). The successful candidate needs to have a keen interest in developing programming level skills in new technologies (e.g. ElasticSearch, Graph Technology, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Working knowledge of recent developments in the field of data science, predictive analytics, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence and open source technologies, and practical experience in applying this knowledge to given use cases and real-world data.
  • Working experience in the following would be seen as an advantage:
    • Data Analytics including data sourcing, manipulation, transformation and visualisation;
    • Developing reusable and easy-to-use scripts and applications;
