USSIM: Large UK asset manager, with a growing allocation to internally-managed credit, including global (public) credit mandates of around £3bn with the expectation for substantial growth in AuM.

Global Credit: Ability to invest across the capital structure with flexible mandates.

A background from a sell-side (including desk analysts) or buy-side research role with accountability for investment recommendations would be useful. The role is open to candidates with credit and equity backgrounds. Experience and aptitude for systematic relative value screening in both cash bonds and Credit Default Swaps through dynamic investment recommendations across allocated sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering Results
  • Take ownership of the credit exposure to allocated sectors.
  • Monitor these credits closely, including the quarterly earnings reporting and changes in and relative to expectations.
  • Keep on top of regulatory and policy changes, as well as macro developments, which could impact the credit exposure.
  • Generate investment/divestment ideas and assist the Portfolio Managers.

Managing Resources
  • Attend credit conferences/Issuer meetings and share relevant insights.
  • Source investment opportunities and leverage external resources for the scheme
  • Managing Relationships
  • Key internal relationships with peers across FI, Performance Attribution and Investment Risk (PAIR), ISA Investment Strategy & Advice (ISA),Private Markets (PMG) and Public Equities teams. Aim to collaborate/ share expertise across the various teams to maximise benefit to USSIM.
  • Develop working relationships with key sell-side Analysts and Sales.

Technical Competencies, Skills and Experience

Essential
  • Background as a Credit Analyst
  • Understanding of drivers for IG and HY credits
  • Strong modelling skills
  • Feel for macro factors affecting credit
  • Proficient in Excel and Bloomberg
  • Working well in a collegiate team
  • Experience in writing and presenting clear, concise reports/process documents, sometimes synthesising complex material
  • Attention to detail
  • Clear communication
