About the Role

Overview

The Benchmark Analyst role on the Benchmark Team utilizes proprietary and vendor-based systems to create and maintain official and custom security level indices with a focus on daily oversight to ensure accurate data for use in the investment process. The Analyst will work closely with internal departments including Portfolio Management, Investment Products & Fund Strategies, and other functional areas across the firm to provide analysis and guidance on benchmark related inquiries and business issues.

Responsibilities

* Develop deep understanding of our index data providers and their calculation methodologies. Develop creative solutions to replicate indices and perform quantitative index analysis upon request.
*Improve processes, workflow and cross-functional communication; enrich both benchmark data and the role by recommending and implementing enhancements to our benchmark applications; seek opportunities to take initiative, improve controls and decrease operational and financial risk.
*Cultivate relationships with fixed income and equity index providers to resolve ad-hoc and custom requests originating from our business partners; facilitate the broad communication of index changes and their impact to the business.
*Develop detailed knowledge of how the Firm uses benchmark information and its impact on the investment process
and client reporting.
*Collaborate with Information Technology to develop, test and integrate technology solutions to enhance our benchmark reporting and analysis tools.
*Work closely with Product Management and Global Relationship Management on client benchmark interpretation
requirements, performance and attribution reporting.
*Work with colleagues within Infrastructure Design, Investment Systems, and Guideline Monitoring to ensure data
integrity including derivatives representation and performance.

Qualifications

*The candidate must be highly knowledgeable of security data in an operational setting. Additional performance, attribution, and derivatives experience would be advantageous.
*Demonstrate excellent analytical and communication skills, and strong attention to detail.
*Have a proven track record of initiating and implementing change.
*Comfortable using or learning different systems and applications including Excel, Access, Bloomberg, Geneva, FactSet and PL-SQL.
*Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and prioritize support and project work.
*Have a strong academic background. A bachelors degree is required. A post-graduate or professional qualification (e.g. CFA), or progress towards one, is desirable.
