Your role at a glance

We have a great opportunity for a Qualified Actuary to join our Retirement Division as a Finance Business Partner.

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining strong business partnering relationships between Finance and the Retirement business units, as well as the wider group. You will also contribute to providing high quality financial analysis, forecasts and plans to ensure that the financial implications of tactical and strategic decisions are fully assessed and understood.

This role would be ideal for someone with previous financial reporting/planning, ALM or commercial finance experience.

This is a hybrid working opportunity based from our London Offices in Moorgate.

What you'll be doing
  • Supporting the Head of Finance Business Partnering in the development and delivery of LGRI's financial and capital forecasts (both for the current year and a more detailed five year strategic plan).
  • Constructing regular reports and communicating financial results and forecasts to senior management teams to assist the LGRI Division and Group in the management of its business performance.
  • Maintaining close working relationships with the wider Finance team and taking a collaborative approach to the production of financial analysis.
  • Working with the UK/International Origination and Investment teams to help develop strategic options to maximise returns on the current business portfolio.
  • Having an in depth understanding of threats and opportunities to the LGRI financial results.
  • Applying commercial and technical knowledge to suggest a series of "levers" that can be used to manage the stability and predictability of these results.
  • Demonstrating an attitude of continuous improvement by proposing improvements in the processes and procedures of own areas within the team, as well as a collaborative approach to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the team's delivery to the Group team.
  • Demonstrating a risk and control mind set through proactive identification of control weaknesses and working with the Financial Controls team to ensure that relevant risk and control related documentation is good quality and up to date. This will reduce the need of onerous manual intervention as well as the risk of error.

What we're looking for
  • A Qualified Actuary, with experience in a Life company being highly desirable.
  • A good understanding of the following Reporting metrics: IFRS, EC and Solvency II, liquidity metrics.
  • A good understanding of Bulk and individual annuity products, the UK finance sector, Risk and regulatory requirements and/or Insurance accounting.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgement in order to navigate through unfamiliar territories and propose solutions.
  • Ability to build relationships and interact effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to build robust modelling tools.
  • Good stakeholder management, communications and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Solid commercial understanding of the UK Life & Pensions industry (retirement product experience would be beneficial) ideally gained in a similar business partnering or commercial finance role.
  • Ability to manage and develop client/customer relationships and provide excellent customer service.
