The Role: EMEA/APAC Desktop Business Development Manager
The Team:
The Desktop Business Development Team (the Team) works collaboratively, with a wide mix of internal and external stakeholders, to affect the growth strategy of S&P Global's desktop franchise. Key collaborators in this regard include: Customers, Sales, Marketing, Account Management, Customer Success, Product Specialists, Product Managers, Content and Technology. Each Team member works to ensure the desktop growth strategy incorporates the workflow nuances and evolving expectations of customers across client segment.
The Impact:
The Team currently has a vacancy for an EMEA/APAC Desktop Business Development Manager. This is a high visibility, multi-dimensional role with responsibilities spanning go-to-market, market analysis, product migration, strategy and planning and product build and design. The focus of this role will pivot between the five major responsibilities outlined below (Go-To-Market, Migration, etc.) depending on the time of year or business need.

Responsibilities:
Go-to-Market
You will be part of a team that is responsible for driving revenue growth of the CIQ desktops. In order to do this effectively, you will need to:
- Provide deal support to commercial partners for new business opportunities and account renewals. Provide customer demos/presentations as appropriate.
- Cultivate effective product positioning for commercial stakeholders. Craft overall desktop value proposition narrative, produce commercial and client friendly materials and design demo scripts. Such outputs should address workflow challenges and leverage areas of product investment and innovation.
- Collaborate with Desktop Strategy and Client Insights team to cultivate targeted campaigns/tactics to accelerate product adoption within existing customers.
- Host education forums for commercial stakeholders, providing updates on new product features and recommendations for effective product positioning.
- Meet with clients to diagnose workflow challenges and understand evolving expectations from vendor products. Socialize learnings internally to inform desktop growth strategy.
- Manage all aspects of the client satisfaction and product experience process.
- Partner with Marketing to develop focused campaigns spanning different mediums: email, infograms, social media, webinars and industry conferences.
Drive CIQ Pro positioning/talking points to relay a cohesive and structured migration journey to the client. To do this effectively, you will need to:
- Engage with ADs/RMs/RM Managers to define migration strategy (Capital IQ to Capital IQ Pro) at book and account level, and map out high-level migration plan for region/segment to achieve migration targets
- Create a planned and timely approach that accommodates the workflow(s) being addressed within a segment/account. Coordinate approach with enhancements from future product releases
- Work with migration-focused counterparts (e.g. SmartMove Committee, CMA Team, etc.) to develop and drive the overall migration strategy for the region
Monitor competitor developments and inform commercial partners of notable competitor developments and advise how to counter new threats. In order to do this effectively, you will need to:
- Be the platform product expert for the CIQ desktops, keeping abreast of trends and developments across client segments. This includes Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) themes.
- Pass on knowledge/leaning through various internal engagements and forums.
- Proactively produce thought leadership (blogs, white papers, speaking at industry events).
- Validate regional vendor/redistributor opportunities.
- Monitor overall financial performance/health of client segments, with particular focus on win/loss analysis and usage patterns. Proactively engage with internal stakeholders to mitigate risks and scale successful deal scenarios.
In this role, you will be engaging with clients and commercial frontlines and will be in a unique position to drive desktop enhancements. You will need to:
- Collaborate closely with product management stakeholders. Attend steering committees/forums to vocalize customer feedback. Drive consensus on desktop investment priorities.
- Work with product capability owners to ensure the product development roadmap fits in with the overall desktop strategy.
- Actively participate in testing newly developed product functionality, ensuring it accurately responds to client expectations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Degree level education
- Strong MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills
- Strong command of client (i.e. valuation, benchmarking, deal sourcing, lending, credit risk, etc) workflows, acquired from working at a financial institution or vendor servicing financial institutions
- Strong understanding of ESG / sustainability concepts and how they're impacting client workflows
- Strong presentation and influencing skills
- Strong collaborative skills and proven ability to work effectively across multiple teams in a matrix environment
- Thought leadership experience (blogs, white papers, speaking at industry events)
- Positive and determined approach to problem solving. Ability to manage tasks and projects through to conclusion
- Strong work ethic, with ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable environment
- 5 years' work experience in a financial institution or vendor
- Working knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce.com, SalesLoft)
- Strong knowledge of Desktop solution serving the finacial community (e.g. S&P Capital IQ, Moody's, Fitch, Bloomberg, EIKON, FactSet, PitchBook, AlphaSense)
- Ability to navigate product development tools e.g. Azure DevOps
- Proven record of building relationships across client organizations
- CFA holder, or studying towards
- Advanced degree
