Department overview:

The Project Portfolio Office consists of full time programme and project managers, business analysts and PMOs, with responsibility for global and/or cross-functional projects and programmes, as well as delivering projects for functions that do not have their own dedicated change teams.

The team provides consistent governance and oversight and is not functionally aligned, thereby ensuring impartiality when servicing multiple functions. We work closely with our stakeholders and sponsors in the line and maintain close working relationships with Technology partners, both internal and external.

Programme description:

  • Significant opportunities have been identified to strategically transform Nomura's Client Lifecycle, and the aims of the Strategic Client Lifecycle programme include enhancement of the client experience and delivery of material efficiency gains and quantifiable returns
  • Key workstreams include Enhanced & Connected Data, Legal Masters Transformation, User Self-Service and Client Account Governance
  • This role will focus on the Enhanced & Connected Data workstream, which covers data modelling and validation, data remediation, data transformation, target-state SOPs and data governance alignment with the group data strategy, in order to develop a front-to-back single view of client


Role description:

  • Hybrid data modeller and data analyst, with some development skills
  • Deep analysis of Nomura's client data (reference data, analytics, legal, risk, financial and other associated data)
  • Identify data discrepancies and propose remediations and structural solutions where required
  • Propose, document and present future state design proposals to appropriate forums, seek agreement and approval
  • Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to design, develop and document future state data models
  • Responsible for co-ordinating, planning and arranging testing activities, including documentation of requirements for user acceptance testing
  • Option analysis & documentation including the identification of gaps and issues
  • Participate in operating model design


Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required (Must haves):

  • Ability to understand scope and develop the business cases and contribute to the roadmap to ensure the achievement of the planned benefits
  • Manipulate, analyse and interpret complex data and use technical expertise to document findings in an understandable format
  • Design of target state data models
  • Experience of collaborative cross-functional requirements analysis and associated design
  • Experience in data modelling and target state design
  • Experience with SQL (Advanced)
  • Experience with Alteryx, Power BI or similar tools (Intermediate)
  • Data quality and data cleansing techniques
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and manage cross functional stakeholders and priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder communities with varying levels of experience
  • Ability to develop impactful written presentations and participate effectively in meetings with senior staff
  • Ability to work under limited supervision ('self-starter') in unstructured environments
  • Intellectual strength / flexibility to rapidly understand complex problems and rationalise these into a workable solution which can then be delivered
  • High level of drive, attention to detail, commitment to achieving solutions and ability to work under pressure


Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required (Desirable):
  • Experience working within Wholesale Banking or Asset Management
  • Experience in managing small teams as part of a blended effort working alongside other Provide compelling and well thought out solutions to problems of high complexity
  • Experience working on client data-oriented projects
  • Familiarity with different delivery methodologies (particularly Agile)
  • Certifications in business analysis are advantageous (e.g. ISEB Business Analysis diploma)
  • Certifications in technical capability are advantageous
