Who we are looking for
State Street's Global Markets (SSGM) has established a Business Control function that is focused on mitigating risk from within the first line of defense by providing oversight of business risks, central management of control programs and risk governance, establishment of reporting, implementation of corporate programs and business solutions related to operational, compliance and technology risks.
The successful candidate will report to the SSGM EMEA Business Risk Executive and liaise on a regular basis with the Global Markets business teams, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Audit thereby complementing and building on the control and risk infrastructure already in place in Global Markets. Specifically, you will provide regional expertise and leadership to Global Markets and support centrally managed activities including, but not limited to, identification of risks and controls, regulatory change & policy implementation, and management risk reporting.
Your ability to take initiative, exercise independent thinking, juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet aggressive deadlines will be key in this fast-paced environment. Your strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and interest in working in a professional and team-oriented environment, will contribute to your success.
This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for
As a member of the SSGM EMEA Business Risk Management team, you will:
  • Act as a valued partner to the business in the identification, assessment and mitigation of risk, and cultivate a culture of risk awareness and speak up
  • Support the execution of business line risk management practices including regional risk assessments (LERA), issue and incident management, key risk indicators and control monitoring, risk acceptance, issue and incident reporting
  • Liaise with regional management to provide a consolidated view of legal entity risk through committee representation and legal entity risk metrics to support informed, risk-based decision making
  • Support the timely identification and remediation of incidents and issues
  • Propose changes to the existing structure and operating model to direct manager and/or business unit leadership as appropriate; challenging the status quo, to standardize processes and controls across products and regions and achieve best practices
  • Maintain and continuously develop knowledge of core products, overall process operating model, financial markets and regulatory environment
  • Support of the SMR Framework for GM EMEA
  • Drive conduct and culture initiatives in support of Business Risk Management and GM more broadly
  • Provide input on and support the embedding of new policies and procedures, ensuring EMEA regulatory requirements are accounted for
  • Participate in and/or drive successful execution of business controls initiatives
  • Embed a culture of risk excellence through demonstrated behavior traits

Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of experience in risk, compliance, and/or audit functions within the financial services industry
  • Knowledgeable about processes, risks and controls/control design for global markets activity
  • Knowledge of industry regulatory requirements and experience with Global Markets businesses
