Role Context:
The Counterparty Risk team provides second line risk oversight coverage across all business areas within the firm for both liquid and private markets. The team sits within M&G Investment & Credit Risk For Private Markets Team (the "Team") alongside the fixed income, equity and multi-asset investment risk teams, reporting directly into the M&G CRO, which has the responsibility for independent, comprehensive, consistent and efficient investment and credit risk oversight for the M&G's Private Assets & Alternatives business.

This role is a great opportunity for someone with some basic exposure to the counterparty or credit risk functions and would like to progress further into this field.

Work Level Accountabilities:
  • Accountable for delivering expert service, using specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise.
  • Applies rigour to deliver outcomes, considering the impact for customers, cost and risk.
  • Manages conflicts that may impact delivery.
  • Identifies and anticipates need for changes to continuously improve quality and efficiency of output.
  • Champions high standards of collaboration within the Team and with other stakeholders across the organisation.

Responsibilities:
  • Analysis of credit exposures arising in the course of daily activities across all asset classes, investigation of daily exceptions and management of credit risk data from various source systems.
  • Production of management information and reports and assist in the implementation of credit risk systems.
  • Maintaining an credit view on the firms universe of global rated banks, brokers, securities houses and investment managers.
  • Decision making and monitoring in an effective and timely manner with a clear focus on risk with the recommending of credit limits.
  • Develop tools for credit exposure analysis.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders across the firm.
  • Providing support across various projects within the counterparty risk team.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • A degree in a numerate discipline. or equivalent experience.
  • Good understanding of the varying degrees of risk within a wide range of products, including derivatives and associated ISDA documentation.
  • Analytical and investigative approach.
  • High levels of numeracy and report writing skills.
  • Strong IT skills (Excel, Word, VBA, Powerpoint), SQL and Python desirable but not essential
  • Experience with using market leading systems (Thomson Reuters Refinitiv, Aladdin, Bloomberg) would be a distinct advantage.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines are essential.
  • The ability to think creatively and analytically.
  • Ability to set own priorities and deadlines and respond to requests from business areas in a timely and professional manner.
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable dealing with colleagues at all levels.
  • Must be self-motivated and a good team player.
