As a Barclays Solution Architect, you'll be in charge of creating technology application solutions for applications to meet Consumer Finance business requirements in line with RFT and Group IT Strategies and Architectures. You'll work closely with application product delivery teams to ensure that those solutions are fit for purpose and help them with architecture related challenges through delivery. You'll assist the development of systems strategies and roadmaps for the supported business area and provide ad-hoc consultancy.

Hybrid Working
We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We're flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances

What will you be doing?
• Accelerating our journey to Cloud (internal and external public cloud) and our strategic Data Platform
• Optimising use of infrastructure and licenses to drive down total cost of ownership
• Adding clarity to business requirements; challenges business requirements and demands to ensure high quality candidate solutions are created
• Thinking outside of the box to aid the business in delivering its strategic objectives rather than just responding to a pre-defined request
• Taking charge of ensuring that solutions adhere to architectural and quality standards and policies.
• Assisting the Director of Architecture in providing advice and guidance to business stakeholders in shaping the portfolio of technology solutions, and the estimating process
• Contributing to broader architectural governance activities by participating in peer reviews for other solutions architects/designers
• Working with the relevant CTO Architects, supports the creation of an appropriate technology strategy and roadmap for the relevant business area

What we're looking for:
• Excellent knowledge of integration and implementation issues and their architectural implications, and of best practice architectural and design methods
• Can describe existing technology infrastructure across major functions / departments and has a comprehensive grasp of emerging technologies
• Ability to produce solutions which are technically innovative and leading-edge thinking
• Knowledge of the products/functions with the ability to apply business analysis skills overlaid on to the technology landscape to create fit for purpose technology solutions

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Working knowledge of the key issues in implementing secure systems
• Broad and solid knowledge of the concepts and roles behind service delivery and systems support
• Understanding different project methodologies, project lifecycles, major phases, dependencies and milestones within a project, and the required documentation needs.
• Knowledge of Consumer Credit Risk or related financial areas (e.g. Liquidity, Market Risk)
