The Markets ORM eTrading Lead is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area.

Oversee Real-time monitoring of intraday eTrading activities across Markets mainly equities. Working alongside the 1st line to ensure completeness and robustness of automated controls and limits
Exercises control over resources, eTrading policy formulation and planning. Responsible as key governance member for eTrading Risk Management. Coordination and review of periodic control, kill switch and capacity testing activities

Responsibilities:
  • On going monitoring of eTrading risk and controls governance across Equities and wider Markets responsibilities - creating innovative solutions (including governance to support the launch of novel AI algorithms), driving cross product growth, regional expansion, and platform maturity. Algo approvals, Algo governance forums participation and escalation, establishing and monitoring risk limits, new product approvals, scenario analysis and creating management information.
  • Independent challenge of intraday limit management control effectiveness. Coordination and review of periodic control, kill switch and capacity testing activities.
  • Quorum member of asset aligned electronic trading governance committees including Algo review and approvals and inventories management
  • Reviews and challenges the application of etrading risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.
  • Independently assess risks and drive actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices.
  • Partnering with the business at executive and business head level to meet business objectives
Additional Details
  • Etrading activity Governance and oversight may include (not limited to): ICG Operations, ICG Global Markets, and ICG Securities Services
  • Serves as an eTrading oversight function working with the In-Business Operational Risk and Independent Risk Teams
  • Oversee the suite of Global Markets Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) used to measure business algorithmic trading risk appetite
  • Liaising with global regulators, fielding operational risk algorithmic trading inquiries
  • Drives - Operational Risk Anticipation, Mitigation and Loss Recovery (and respective Recovery Plans) and business implementation and adherence to Operational Risk frameworks
  • Ensures Operation Risk Policy implementation and exception approvals
  • Informs Operational Risk Council on Sub-Segment Level OR related matters Attends in Business Risk Committees and forums as a strong, independent challenger
  • Leads- oversees the annual Key Risk Indicator (KRI) reviews
  • Catalyst for eTrading change initiatives covering change management and end-user computing reduction
  • Other responsibilities included (but not limited to): reviewing specific client algorithm customizations, working with quant developers to drive model improvements and new algorithm initiatives, and partnering on ad-hoc projects designed to improve the product offering effectiveness.
  • Exports best practices and common risk, controls, and corrective actions through Framework Papers
  • Ensures that Citi wide etrading related KORs and KRCIs are communicated and understood by Businesses
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
  • Solid relevant experience
  • Experienced electronic trading professional in execution across portfolio and algorithmic trading risk management.
  • Significant experience in etrading, Operational Risk is a must. Other risk and control disciplines would be a plus - credit, and market.
  • Strong understanding of etrading, Operational Risk Management framework tools including Control Assessments, Scenario Analysis, Event Reviews
  • Strong understanding of Operations, Global Markets, and/or Securities Services businesses, processes and respective industry best practices in Markets products including Equities, Rates, Currencies, Spread Products
  • Robust understanding of the construction of an effective control environment.
  • Superior communication (verbal and written), facilitation and consensus-building skills. Ability to effectively communicate with senior Markets leadership.
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills, with a superior ability to make things happen using positive influence
  • Strong problem-solving skills; comfortable tackling complex problems and breaking these down into manageable pieces
  • Process design and analysis skills
  • Bachelors/University degree, Master's degree preferred.
