At M&G our purpose is to help people manage and grow their savings and investments, responsibly. As a business, we are continuing to take steps towards a sustainable future, delivering better long-term solutions for our customers and clients and identifying new opportunities to make a positive impact for our environment and communities . To help us achieve our vision we're looking for exceptional people who live our values of care and integrity and who can inspire others; embrace change; deliver results and keep it simple.

We will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and also offer work place accommodations to ensure you have what you need to effectively deliver in your role.

What is Risk & Compliance at M&G?

M&G Risk & Compliance proactively supports the business in effectively identifying and managing risk, formulating and implementing a risk appetite and limit framework, and navigating and meeting its regulatory obligations. We challenge the business to own its risks, drive improvement of the control environment, always observe the highest standards of conduct and deliver good outcomes for our customers.

What is the M&G Graduate Scheme?

Our graduate scheme is a 18 - 24 months immersive dive into the world of M&G, starting on 1 September 2023. You will be taking part in up to 4, 6-month rotations across our Risk & Compliance business. At the end of the scheme, you will embark on a permanent role in a team aligned to your skillset and interests.

Your three week induction will be a mixture of formal industry-focused training, and business insight sessions from our experienced professionals: you will go into your first rotation with a core understanding of who we are, our strategies and products, and customers & clients. We continue this learning throughout the programme, with a mix of on the job and formal training relevant to your role - you will have access to in-house training opportunities and a host of learning materials within our Workday learning portal.

Your manager will work with you on an individual personal development plan during the programme, and you will also be allocated a buddy, you will also have the opportunity to attend networking and social events during your time here.

What will you be doing?

You could be rotating across some of the following teams:
  • Financial Crime Compliance - Responsible for setting the framework for adherence to applicable financial crime law and regulation globally (i.e. Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing, Sanctions, Fraud, Bribery & Corruption and Tax Evasion risks), which includes oversight, advice and support across the business. You will have the opportunity to assist in the operation of key financial crime controls across the business, including transaction monitoring, anti-bribery and corruption controls and also gain insights in to how investigations in to fraud or other financial crimes are carried out.
  • Investment Risk - Working closely with fund managers and other senior stakeholders across the business, providing both insight and challenge on risk, performance, and portfolio construction. Alongside providing fund oversight the team works closely with the Product and Investment Solutions teams to support the development of new funds and portfolios, and with Sales and Distribution teams to aid with client queries. Key responsibilities include ensuring that risk taking is consistent with the funds' stated objectives (including sustainability) and strategy and that the funds maintain appropriate levels of liquidity and diversification.
  • Compliance Advisory - Providing an advisory service across the business in relation to the design and effectiveness of regulatory processes, policies, controls, products, services and outcomes for customers. You will have the opportunity to learn how Compliance assists business developments and projects ensuring they are delivered in accordance within the expectations of our regulators and provide good outcomes to our customers.
  • Non-Financial Risk - Carrying out a risk management role provides an opportunity to get exposure and understand the whole of our business. You'll learn about the non-financial risks we are exposed to as a business, how we manage these and ultimately help support the business to achieve its strategic objectives and plans safely.
  • Financial Risk - Working across multiple functions to provide oversight and assurance covering a wide range of risks from new fund structures and acquisitions to balance sheet management and assurance work and many other aspects of risk. You would have the opportunity to work across the different functions including the platform business as well as our asset manager.
  • Compliance Monitoring - Undertaking risk based oversight and assurance activities, through thematic and regular inspection activities and testing, to ensure M&G is conducting its affairs in compliance with relevant financial services rules and regulations. You will gain an insight in to how different areas of the business have complied with these rules and assess whether business activities are both compliant and meet the firm's expectations in terms of customer delivery.
