Key Responsibilites:
What we are looking for:
- Manage the company's Business Intelligence User Community
- Work with colleagues across the company to understand their requirements for data analysis and management information.
- Coach, train and support colleagues in the adoption of data analysis self-service and consuming the company MI portfolio.
- Keep our colleagues aware of the latest developments and capabilities in the Business Intelligence and wider data community.
- Act as an educator and mediator where requests for reporting and analysis go against or deviate from our company data strategy, standards and processes guiding our colleagues to more sustainable solutions.
- BI Development and Analysis Service
- Own the BI service and prioritisation of work within the team.
- Ensure an Agile delivery process is in place to coordinate all work within the BI team.
- Set good practice standards for development and presentation of the BI team's outputs.
- Work within our data governance processes to implement common data definitions.
- Coordinate the company MI Portfolio
- Own and operate the companywide MI portfolio ensuring it is efficient, well-structured, consistent and adding measurable value to the company.
- Proactively discover and support our users where local reporting needs to be adopted into the portfolio or where awareness of existing reports can meet new requirements.
- Monitor the Data Quality in BI Outputs
- Set expectations for and monitor data quality within reports and analysis, feeding back to the wider data function when anomalies are discovered.
- Understand how business processes can affect data quality via key source systems and help raise awareness to colleagues with data ownership responsibilities.
- Ensure an effective BI Team
- Where requirements need wider data engineering and architecture support, document requirements and design information to be communicated into the wider team.
- Ensure all BI team members have clear accountabilities and personal development plans.
- Be an active contributor in the leadership of the wider data team, helping the evolution of the company's data strategy and approach to data.
What we are looking for:
- Excellent stakeholder management skills including requirements capture.
- BI solution design skills, able to recommend the right analytical approach to requirements.
- Power BI report development including DAX.
- Transact SQL and Python/Scala Scripting
- Excel/VBA for data presentation
- MI portfolio management experience
- Exceptional knowledge of data visualization and dashboard design techniques
- Working knowledge of analytical and modeling techniques
- Understanding of Microsoft Azure data and analytics tool set including Azure Databricks.
- An understanding of Lloyd's Insurance market, its data and processes would be ideal but not essential
