Purpose of the role:

The Insurance Solutions Programme has been set up with M&G objectives, innovation and growth at its core. Managing assets on behalf of Insurance Clients is what we do today but needs to be scaled. In addition, we will be putting in place the capabilities needed to provide innovative pensions de-risking solutions to our clients. This will involve working across the business, notably with the Treasury & Investment Office and with Corporate Risk, so the role will provide great business exposure. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants a challenging and front facing role on a Growth Programme, working in a friendly and professional environment.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing leadership to the BAs on the programme, assisting with work allocation, quality assurance and being the first point of call for escalations regarding the analysis work components.
  • Supporting the development of a business case and associated operating model for a project/programme or portfolio.
  • Supporting the Project/Programme Manager in defining the benefits definition and associated realisation management.
  • Producing requirements (including epics and user stories), perform interviews, analysis documents, run workshops (at a strategic level that includes complex business problems) define or record business process, prototyping scenarios, data analysis, task and workflow analysis.
  • Critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Proactively communicating and collaborating with external and internal parties to analyse information needs, functional requirements, existing capabilities and feasibility, with the objective of delivering a clear implementation framework.
  • Ensuring that technology build is completed to specifications, and drives testing of system elements of the operating model.
  • Compiling key external facing documents such as Service Level Agreements and work with the external managers to manage and review 3rd party analysis deliverables, focusing on quality and relevance to the project.
  • Working with the product business teams to lead operational readiness.
  • Ensuring that there is a plan, and that business is ready to adopt the new solution.
  • Ensuring the overall solution is valid and is in accordance to the agreed objectives and expectations set by the project and programme.


What we require from the candidate:
  • Strong understanding of the investment management lifecycle and financial instruments that funds invest in - public assets, private and alternative investments.
  • Strong track record of process design and delivery, adept at building effective relationships with business customers and peers to understand the internal and external environment, working flexibly to meet challenging deadlines and providing outputs of the highest standard.
  • Knowledge of the key trends, markets, and regulatory changes shaping the asset management industry and of the key participants and their role in the asset management value chain.
  • Experience of the following within an asset management context: Governance and service design / Process re-engineering / automation and System / service selection.
  • Leading target operating model design, solutions and requirement gathering for customer outcomes, growth, efficiency, and risk control.
  • Transformation/Change and project delivery (implementation) experience.
  • Worked with, or for, a UK Life Insurer / Pensions Provider and / or a good understanding of the financial side of insurance (e.g. cash matching, assets and liabilities etc.).
  • Bulk Purchase Annuities and / or Actuarial knowledge and experience an advantage.
