Join Macquarie's European Gas and Power team as a European Power Trader in London. In this role, you will help drive revenue and help increase the team's activity across European power markets. You will be involved in the build out of fundamental models to forecast market prices. You will then use these insights to develop trading strategies together with the analysts and Power team leader. You'll also work to ensure compliance with collateral requirements, regulatory requirements and internal risk limits.

You'll build on our current internal and external relationships and establish new connections with traders, asset managers, counterparties, and clients. On a day to day basis, you will use your problem solving and analytical skills to forecast and manage operational and risk issues and implement real-time risk management and trading strategies to optimize portfolios.

To be successful, you will have knowledge of European power system economics and physical/virtual energy trading, and a strong desire to build a career with our Commodities and Global Markets team at Macquarie.

You will bring to this role:
  • a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Economics, or related quantitative discipline
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience as either a European Power trader or European Power analyst
  • experience with databases, power models, and programming
  • an understanding of both fundamental and quantitative methods in portfolio development.
