What We Do
Global Markets Trading deals with clients and investors who wish to trade in the international markets of Foreign Exchange, Equities, Interest Rates, Bonds, Commodities and Credit derivatives.

Each of these market sectors deliver multi-billion-dollar revenues and have their own technology team, working with a range of applications and different technologies. Most of our key applications are developed in-house, to give our trading operations a competitive edge through speed, flexibility, and bespoke functionality.

Within the Global Markets IT department, many of our senior developers and managers are based in London but work with global teams in North America, Europe, and Asia. Previously, our UK mainland IT roles were in the London area. However, we believe in the growing significance of N.W. England and particularly Manchester as a technology hub.
Our Business Unit (Rates and CVA Technology Overview)
Citi's Fixed Income Interest Rates and CVA technology group supports the front office technology operations of one of the world's largest capital market businesses. Electronic trading is a significant part of the Rates business. There are 3 key areas: Futures, Broker & Customer Markets and Automation / STP (Straight Through Processing) is key to grow business volumes. Our e-trading team therefore plays an essential role and works closely with the business to maintain and grow our competitive advantage.

What you will do

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile trading application, supporting a global business.

The platform team collaborates closely with partner technology teams such as development, operations, production support, as well as the external markets/exchanges. The primary goal and focus of the team is to build and support the platform which our Rates software applications run on.

The role requires an understanding of SDLC practices, management of infrastructure deployments and Internal/External Market network connectivity, as well as providing the ability to gain exposure to the fast-paced world of front office trading and finance.

Job Purpose:
  • Business & Technical Requirements - Capture / Analysis
  • Exchange Market Connectivity development
  • Development of the e-trading infrastructure platform
  • Scheduling Internal / External Network Connectivity Changes
  • Collaboration with the global business and development teams
  • Focus on Infrastructure performance and scalability
  • Support 3rd Party Vendor ION Application
  • Third line support of the platform
  • Packaging and configuration of vendor software for deployment
What you will bring

Software engineering skills:
  • Understanding of Network Connectivity - (Firewall & Router)
  • Unix scripting
  • Relational database concepts and knowledge in SQL
  • RedHat & Wintel O/S Admin Experience
  • Infra commissioning and Decommissioning
  • Strong problem-solving skills
Business facing and interpersonal skills:
  • Excellent communication skills
