Are you ready to work on an exciting web product and help turn it into a premium, multimedia platform that features the best of Bloomberg's market-moving news and analysis?

We are looking for a seasoned editor and/or reporter to join UK Markets Today, which provides our Bloomberg web audience with up-to-the-minute coverage of anything and everything vital to markets and to the wider economy. You will join a team of experienced and multi-talented journalists to produce daily editions of the live page, as well as the daily Five Things newsletter. It's a chance to shape a product from the start and to help roll it out globally. You will be in a high profile role, working with senior editors across the newsroom to identify key trends and stories.

You must have an eye for the news that matters, a good understanding of markets (or a willingness to learn), and the ambition to curate a platform that showcases Bloomberg's expertise in business and finance news. Our aim is a product that stands out from rival products and that drives traffic to the Bloomberg UK website. You will need the ability to shift gears fast, to collaborate across multiple teams, to use social media and video effectively in the page, mixing and matching elements of our MLIV blog with other parts of Bloomberg's reporting. You will be encouraged to look to markets contacts and social media to keep your finger on the pulse of what gets our clients buzzing and work seamlessly with our Markets Live terminal blog. Some of the material you will be writing yourself.

You will be encouraged to experiment with our workflow, as well as contribute ideas for new products and platforms, with the goal of maximizing Markets Today's visibility and expanding its reach. You will also be encouraged to represent the team on TV, radio, live events and conferences, both internally and externally.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:
  • Excellent news judgement in fast-moving scenarios
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of how markets and economies operate
  • The ability to write quickly, concisely, accurately and authoritatively
  • A talent for -- or willingness to learn -- storytelling via a mix of different media
  • Very good collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience of using multiple news sources, including social, and of web curation
  • A tendency to remain calm under pressure
  • - An inclination to try joining the dots

Apply if you think we're a good match. We'll get in touch to let you know that the next steps are, but in the meantime feel free to have a look at:
