We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Responsible Investment professional with a strong background in climate related analysis to join the existing Responsible Investment Team as a Net Zero Manager.
The role would suit someone with very good understanding of climate science, decarbonisation pathways, carbon reporting methodology, and experience in working with complex technical concepts and data relating to the transition to net zero. A large part of the role is focusing on advancing our decarbonisation efforts through developing and implementing robust carbon performance frameworks for our investment portfolios. In this role, you will have a direct impact on LGPS Central's net zero transition and our investment strategies. The net zero specialist will lead on the evolution and implementation of LGPS Central's Net Zero Strategy.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate that enjoys a significant degree of role-autonomy and is excited by the prospect of taking ownership of a major piece of company strategy and contributing to the transition to a lower carbon economy.
There will also be the opportunity to get involved in other aspects of RI related workstreams and deliverables to ensure the continued development of the role holder in all aspects of RI work across all asset classes.
Relevant investment experience is essential in this role.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Competence:
- Detailed understanding of carbon accounting, experience of carbon foot printing and associated reporting
- Analytical skills: excellent ability to analyse ESG related company disclosures and to convey conclusions in the language of investment management.
- Extensive experience of working with ESG climate data
- Demonstrative experience of working on net zero related activities.
- Track record of engaging company boards and senior management on financially material ESG issues
- Understanding of the shareholder voting process and its relevance for long-term investors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience of presenting to senior colleagues internally & external stakeholdersOrganised; project management, change delivery, stakeholder management experience an advantage.An interest in natural capital would be beneficial.
Qualifications
- Degree-level education
- IMC, ESG, CFA (any level), or other relevant investment qualification desirable
