Department overview:
The Global Middle Office plays an important role within the Finance Department. It includes the legacy Product Control, Valuations, Collateral Management and Operations Middle Office functions. The Transaction Control area includes a transformation unit participating in a broad variety of change projects that require GMO focus on Trade and Controls. As well as carrying out direct analysis, requirements gathering, testing and go-live oversight, they also arrange the direct engagement of GMO SMEs to join them participating in those change activities. They interface with the PPO on large cross-functional projects.
The Project Portfolio Office (PPO) consists of full time programme and project managers, business analysts and PMOs, with responsibility for global and/or cross-functional projects and programmes, as well as delivering projects for functions that do not have their own dedicated change teams.

Project description:
- The role will sit in GMO Transaction Control - Transformation Team. The role will be participating in the full range of GMO Transaction Control - Transformation projects which includes the global Trade Front to Back (TFTB) project managed by PPO.
- With TFTB, Nomura is undertaking a fundamental review of trade flows from front office trading platforms down to systems for areas such as risk, operations, finance and compliance. The objective of the programme is to drive forward the strategic IT architecture roadmap aligning it with a new operating model, which will simplify trade flows and processing.
- A single, trusted hub for all trade data is being deployed to feed global consumers such as Settlements, Confirmations, Treasury, Reg Reporting, and Compliance. Alongside this Tzero trade quality controls are being deployed, with trade exception management tools and a new Operating Model
Role description:
The Transformation SME will:
- Work closely with the GMO teams and PPO across a range of areas:
- Data requirements gathering
- Trade controls and validation
- Data lineage
- Creating trade test cases for UAT
- Participating in UAT of trade system deployments
- Developing technical solutions to issues found during testing
- Migrating trades between systems and/or Nomura entities
- Engaging global SMEs to help with the above
- Be required to consolidate inputs to review and work with the leads to identify duplication of work, assist on the proposed new Target Operating Model exercise and create requirements packs to feed into Technology
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
- Proven track record working with derivative and cash transactions in areas such as Middle Office, Finance, Operations. A solid understanding of the operating model for these departments, standard processes and flows, and a good perception of Global Markets
- Natural self-starter, proactive, use their own initiative, and will see tasks through to completion
- Strong analytical skillset with ability to assimilate, translate and communicate business concepts and requirements
- Attention to detail and high quality standards relating to documentation, processes and the control environment are essential
- Experience working to a project plan and delivering technology solutions on time
- Excellent communicator and influencer, able to build relationships with colleagues at all levels from a range of departments, business areas and cultures in order to build consensus
- Ability to collaborate and work with offshore teams
- Data quality and data cleansing techniques
- Experience of business analysis tasks and approaches
- Understanding of the principles of data governance
- An advantage if you have proficiency in data analytics and visualisation products - e.g. Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake
