Morgan Mckinley is recruiting on behalf of a national regulatory body for a lead service designer to join their growing team in the North of England.

Job Description

A national regulatory body is looking to scale up their northern England with a number of Digital and Tech hires to help maintain existing and progress new digital services.

We are looking for a talented Service Designer to join our team based in Leeds. As a regulatory body, we are dedicated to ensuring that our services are compliant and meet the highest standards. We pride ourselves on offering innovative and user-friendly services and we are looking for someone with a unique skillset to help us continue this work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing and implementing new service offerings, and tweaking current services to run more efficiently.
  • Working collaboratively with other teams across the business to ensure service implementation runs smoothly and customer needs are always a top priority.
  • Conducting user research to learn about customers' needs and better understand their behaviours.
  • Creating insightful service prototypes that improve our understanding of customers' needs, behaviours, and pain points.
  • Working closely with the UX team to ensure that the design follows the best practices of user-centred design.
  • Helping to develop the department's knowledge of design principles, methodologies, and tools to drive improvement across the services offered.

Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in service design or product design.
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe, Figma, and Gov/NHS design tools and other relevant tech stacks.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in briefing and using research to help inform design decisions.
  • Experience in Storyboarding / blueprinting and prototyping projects from end-to-end.
  • Excellent skill in designing accessible and usable services that meet Government Digital Service standards.
  • Good experience of designing services for B2B and B2C customers would be an essential part of the job.

This position would be well-suited to someone who has worked in a public sector or compliant industry environment.
