About the Team
Engineering Excellence is a new function within ICG Technology. Our mission is to make it easy and enjoyable for software engineering teams to go from a business idea to delivering an innovative product solution. The main goals are to improve and upgrade our tools, streamline our processes, automate and strengthen our controls, and help development teams adopt modern working methods.

The Engineering Excellence Tech team is responsible for measuring Technical Achievement and DevOps Outcomes across ICG Technology and helping to foster a collaborative, open culture amongst our developer communities.
The team identifies, develops, and maintains automated measurement of Productivity Metrics, DevOps Capabilities, and Technical Recognition items which application teams can use to recognise their peers, discover and adopt new methods and contribute solutions for use by the wider organisation. The team is also responsible for working with the other Developer Engineering streams to ensure capabilities are implemented within infrastructure, taught in training courses and advertised and discussed across the developer community.

About the Role
We are looking for a software engineer to build out the Engineering Excellence Technical Learning platform. This wide-ranging role involves requiring a broad understanding of modern software development, and enthusiasm for helping improve other's understanding and expertise, as well as a solid base in software development.
You will be responsible for the development the creation of a Technical Learning platform for our users, implementation of custom Technical Training Labs, and working with partner teams to leverage existing offerings.

This role will report to the Technical Training Development Lead

Responsibilities:
  • Work with a wide variety of technology teams to help support them in their Engineering Excellence transformation by understanding technical training needs
  • Work with Training Development partners to develop and implement technical training programmes according to organisational requirements
  • Support and drive cultural change, instigating critical thinking about controls and processes and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement
  • Design and develop the Technical Learning software platform, including:
    • API development in a micro-service environment
    • Modern Website development
  • Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users
  • Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement
  • Recommend and develop security measures in post implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality
Experience:
  • Experience in Angular, React & Java
  • Experience of developing on a range of event-driven architectures, ideally including container-based microservices leveraging technologies such as Python or Go, with GraphQL and REST on the backend and Angular on the frontend
  • Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and messaging systems
  • Experience working in a DevSecOps culture and implementing CI/CD pipelines, leveraging testing, observability, and other appropriate tools
