About Macro Distribution
Macro distribution is responsible for the distribution of Macro products (primarily Rates and FX) to the institutional client base of Barclays Investment Bank.
About Macro Hedge Funds
The Macro Hedge Fund Sales team is primarily (though not solely) the team that distributes Macro (predominantly Rates) product into the Hedge Fund client base.
Overall purpose of role
The role will have myriad constituent parts; primarily servicing client needs and backing up the team in all aspects of client relationship management. Distribution of macro products (mainly Rates) and corralling of internal resources (trading and research) to deliver best in class ideas and execution to the client set. Also, developing on-desk tools and spreadsheets will be required.
Key Accountabilities
• Ensuring efficient management of trade flow (executing, booking and confirming trades ).
• Interacting with Trading , Sales and Research to further understanding of the Macro universe and product set
• Working with research partners to hone our research offering in an evolving regulatory landscape
• Working alongside trading to deliver a seamless trading offering to our client set
• Helping to analyze flows, generate trade ideas and contribute to the mindshare on the desk and with wider stakeholders.
• Developing and taking responsibility/leadership for a set of key hedge fund clients.
• Helping to develop/train junior talent on the desk

Clients - These are the key external stakeholder
Macro Management - insofar as we aid the delivery of a returns based strategy (return on RWA &LBS).
Trading fraternity - Encouraging best in class delivery of our trading capability to the client set
Research fraternity - Encouraging best in class delivery of our research offering to the client set
Human Resources - Helping in the banks recruitment efforts and ensuring training of employees.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
Strong understanding of financial products (with a specific focus on Rates) with knowledge of interest rate derivatives (swaps and options in particular). From the outset, the candidate will be expected to manage and have responsibility for a set of key hedge fund clients. The candidate will be expected to execute, book and confirm trades across interest rates products. Knowledge of financial markets and themes is a prerequisite to this role, the candidate should be able to produce trade ideas and add to mindshare of the team shortly after commencing in the role.
Risk and Control Objective
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards
Person Specification
• Experience in covering clients (especially Hedge Fund clients)
• Strong understanding of Rates Products (bonds, swaps and options in particular)
• Understanding of Barclays research offering and its relevance to the client set
• Experience of managing client relationships especially Hedge Fund clients.
• Understanding of financial markets/themes and ability to produce trade ideas and contribute to mindshare of the team
• Ability to self-motivate and understand new concepts quickly
• Strong work ethic and team-working skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to use judgement especially where that can systematically improve the client experience.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- Understanding of interest rates products and financial concepts
- Strong technical and analytical skills and understanding of macro environment
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task
- Team working skills and strong communication skills
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience managing relationships with instistitional clients specifically Hedge Funds
- Ability to understand market themes, analyse flow and produce/disseminate trade ideas
- Ability to build and develop pricing models and spreadsheets
- Strong understanding of the regulatory framework and ability to develop strong relationships with internal stakholders, research, trading, compliance, legal, operations etc.

This role is deemed as a Certified role under the PRA & UK Financial Conduct Authority - Individual Accountabilities Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
