A London Market insurance business is looking for an experienced candidate to support the CFO and board with their investment strategy. You will be presenting new ideas to the exec as well as conveying the desired strategy to the selected Investment Managers.
  • Run strategic asset allocation (SAA) exercises with advisors/managers and work through the outputs to formulate proposals for the board
  • Implement SAA decisions, working with existing and new managers to identify appropriate opportunities and prepare proposals. Work with legal and finance teams to coordinate legal, tax, and operational reviews to ensure suitability for the company and risks identified.
  • Identify new asset class opportunities for the board to consider.
  • Regular investment analysis and follow up with fixed income managers to understand changes being made and changes expected/proposed to be made. This may include making periodic changes to the mandates
  • Portfolio risk management and optimisation. Ensure risk appetite of board is understood, maintained and appropriately illustrated. Work with capital modelling team to ensure standard formula, internal and S&P model requirements/implications are understood.
  • Manage external advisors.
  • Seek and assess opportunities, make proposals, and implementation including legal/contractual work, and operational considerations.
  • Perform scenario generation and stress tests.
  • Benchmarking, against suitable market metrics, other managers, other clubs, other insurers.
  • Collaborate with treasury team on cash optimisation across all entities.
  • DB pension scheme. Similar activities for this scheme to support on.
  • Other projects may require some support on an ad-hoc basis.

You will need to have experience of dealing with and selecting Investment Managers and be comfortable working autonomously to define the strategy. Experience of working with investments in an insurance company, including good governance practices is essential.

The employee operates an Inclusive hiring policy and is open to employing this role on either a full or part-time/flexible basis. Whilst the role can be home-based, it will also be necessary to come into London to meet the Investment Managers and present to the board.
