The Role:
We are looking for an Investment Specialist to work in the Equities business in London. The role will have a specific focus on the global equity team which manages £20 billion* across a range of global and regional strategies for wholesale and institutional clients (*as of 31 December 2022). The successful candidate will report into Kotaro Miyata, Investment Director, who works on the global equity team covering the Global Dividend, North American Dividend, Global Listed Infrastructure and Global Themes strategies.
Investment Specialists are embedded in the investment teams and work with the fund managers to articulate investment messages to internal audiences (sales and marketing teams) and external clients. The role is designed to facilitate long-term growth in the business by providing investment input into distribution activities, as well as supporting the client service required to retain existing assets under management.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated professional to make a valuable contribution to the commercial development of high-profile strategies as an integral member of a collaborative, experienced and growing team.

Key Responsibilities for this role:
- To develop an in-depth working knowledge of financial markets and companies, with a focus on the stocks held by the income, thematic and value strategies managed by the global equity team.
- To have a firm understanding of the investment philosophy and process of the individual strategies, as well as the drivers of performance, fund positioning and portfolio activity.
- By applying the above, to deliver high-quality written content including regular fund reports, ad-hoc marketing materials, client queries, responses to RFPs and press requests.
- To oversee the production of presentation materials for client meetings.
- To deliver on deadlines and manage expectations.
- To generate ideas and create new content.
- To be an integral member of the global equity team.
- To establish strong relationships with stakeholders - from investment teams and sales teams to investment marketing, marketing and press.
- To build credibility with fund managers and sales teams.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Experience in financial markets (about 5 years), preferably in the fund management industry in an investment or specialist role. CFA preferable.
- Knowledge and passion for investing, as well as a grasp of the challenges of investing.
- Commercial awareness - an understanding of industry dynamics, as well as familiarity with the wholesale and institutional client base.
- Written and verbal communication skills - ability to explain complex investment themes in simple language to a range of audiences.
- Messaging skills - ability to focus on key issues without elaborating on superfluous detail.
- Numerical and analytical skills - ability to deliver on the detail demanded by clients.
- Attention to detail - precision and rigour in the execution of tasks.
- Strong work ethic - an individual driven by results and achievements.
- Organisational skills - ability to manage a wide range of tasks and shifting priorities.
- Time management skills - ability to meet deadlines.
