Your New Job Title: Accountant, Product Control- Banking (12 months FTC)

The Skills You'll Need: Fluent in English, Solid Accountant experience, Knowledge of FX Derivatives, Interest Rate Swaps, Bonds, MM Deposits and Loan products.

Reporting To: Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

Who You'll Be Working for:

Our client is a well-established and fast expanding bank.

What You'll be Doing Each Day:
-Ownership of tasks within daily, monthly & quarterly P&L production and Balance Sheet review of all Treasury, Loan and Deposit products.
-Assisting the Team Manager with the daily and month-end analysis of: a. the FX trading P&L; b. Hedge Accounting analysis; c. Hedge Effectiveness testing; d. Reporting and analysis to support the local management accounts and HO Reporting. e. Independent Price Verification review.
-Assisting the Team Manager on the Balance Sheet Substantiation and ensuring that the key reconciliations and analysis are all signed-off and submitted for review as part of the month-end time-tables.
-Work closely with the Team Manager and assist in developing financial/analysis data and reports for business management in the form and at the frequency required by the Management committee/ ALCO and assist in the reports required for the Head Office.
-Work closely with the Team Manager / Senior Financial Controller and assist with any new product approvals process and to assist in developing financial/product information/ data required for any new products.
-Investigation of issues and exceptions with other members of the Finance function, Technology, Risk and Operations and any other areas of the Branch.
-Standardizing the documentation for the daily, monthly product control manuals, procedures and processes and assisting the Team Manager with the periodic updates and reviews of the documentation and proposing required changes.
-Assisting in the planning, testing and implementation of key systems / upgrades to systems or new products which affect Product Control & wider Finance team as required [NB: for new products this will involve understanding the product features and required analysis of cash-flows/ valuation principles and defining the requirements as part of the New Product Approval (NPA) sign-off].
-Proper use of the Bank's IT systems and data, particularly personal data, in accordance with the IT Security Policy and the Data Protection Policy and any applicable departmental procedures;
-Complete ad-hoc requests from the line manager, Head or Deputy Head of Operations or DGM.
-Adherence to staff handbook, company's and departmental policies, rules and regulations as changed from time to time and to the core values, behaviours (e.g., Code of Conduct) at all times.

The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:
-Fluent in English ((desirable: ability to communicate in Mandarin)
-Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CFA preferred) held for at least 3 years or qualified by experience (QBE) for at least 5 years in a direct role.
-Knowledge of financial products: FX Derivatives, Interest Rate Swaps, Bonds, MM Deposits and Loan products is essential.
-Knowledge of RMB (CNH & CNY) is preferable as is knowledge of Clearing activities.
-High regard for attention to detail and accuracy to ensure close control of the P&L reported.
-Understanding of Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) methodologies.
-Awareness of emerging industry trends such as Basel capital rules & IBOR transition implications.
-Strong planning and prioritization skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks and with multiple stakeholders.
-Proficient in MS Office, specifically a strong command in Excel and PowerPoint as well as good level for VBA and SQL.

Job status: 12 months Fixed Term Contract
Working Style: Hybrid, 4 days in the office.
