Bionic is breaking new ground in the UK market by investing in technology at an accelerated rate to bring cutting edge customer journeys and omnichannel experiences to customers. This involves significantly increased spend within technology of c. £1m a month and brings with it the complexities of project accounting, capitalisation, benefits tracking and ensuring costs to completion of projects are well understood and risks managed.

The Tech Finance Business Partner is a newly created role within the Finance team to address these challenges. The role is responsible for business partnering the CTO and covers the full project lifecycle from business cases, to tracking delivery to reporting and forecasting during build to ultimate benefit realisation work. Excelling in this will allow us to further our investments, accelerating us towards our mission of earning the lifetime loyalty of British SMEs

The Team

The Finance team strives to be the best operators within the UK PE market, providing insight and operational financial support to the business in order to drive growth and promote a strong financial position. Over the last few years the Finance team has grown significantly to give the business the infrastructure and capability to support its level of growth. In addition, the finance team is responsible for maintaining our financial reporting software, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our records, building relationships with our external stakeholders and reporting to our internal stakeholders.

The role reports into the Head of Commercial Finance who partners the wider Exec team to deliver our long-term growth objectives and has responsibility for all group budgets and plans as well as helping to manage the in year commercial levers that helps us achieve them.

Role Opportunities
  • Key support to CTO and tech leadership enabling them to delivery fast change across the group

Responsibilities
  • Business partnering Tech team
  • Building business cases and tracking benefits
  • Budgeting Tech spend - capex and opex, including ongoing reforecasting
  • Understanding key costs of Tech team and financial impact of them
  • Monthly journals, reporting and variance analysis
  • Liaising with audit team and tax team on R&D claims
  • Ownership of key financial assumptions including depreciation and capex policies

Requirements
  • Qualified accountant - ACA / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent
  • Finance business partnering experience
  • Solid technical understanding of financial concepts impacting accounting in Tech areas
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy to include Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Appetite to learn, improve, and share the formula with others
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes
  • Happy to take on new tasks which may be challenging
  • Able to understand and manage tasks of differing priority
  • Can meet deadlines and communicate effectively if it cannot be met
  • Comfortable with juggling different tasks of equal priority
