The Role:

We are looking for an Investment Specialist to join the listed equities business. The role will have a specific focus on the listed equities Impact & Sustain Paris Aligned strategies with a combined AUM of £3.1 billion* across a range of strategies for wholesale and institutional clients, located both in the UK as well as internationally (*31 December 2022). The successful candidate will report into Susanne Grabinger, Investment Director, who works in the Sustain & Impact Equity team.

Investment Specialists are embedded in the Investment teams and work closely with the Fund Managers to articulate investment messages to internal and external clients. The role is designed to facilitate the growth of the business, in addition to the retention of existing assets under management.

The Investment Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality written content, as well as overseeing the production of presentation materials. Over time, it is anticipated that competence in these tasks will lead to the successful candidate taking on client-facing responsibilities, although this will be dependent on the individual's investment knowledge and presentation skills.

Genuine interest in both investing in equities and sustainability is necessary for this role, previous working experience in these areas is not a prerequisite.

Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • To develop an in-depth working knowledge of financial markets and companies, with a focus on stocks held by the impact and sustain Paris Aligned strategies.
  • To have a firm understanding of the investment philosophy and process of both the Impact and the Paris Aligned strategies, as well as the drivers of performance, fund positioning and portfolio activity.
  • By applying the above, to deliver high-quality written content including regular fund reports, ad-hoc marketing materials, client queries, responses to RFPs and press requests.
  • To oversee the production of presentation materials for client meetings.
  • To deliver on deadlines and manage expectations.
  • To generate ideas and create new content.
  • To establish strong relationships with stakeholders - from investment teams and sales teams to investment marketing, marketing, and press.
  • To build credibility with fund managers and sales teams.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Knowledge of financial markets. IMC preferable, CFA over time.
  • Knowledge of, or keen interest in, sustainability. CFA ESG certificate (or similar) preferable or over time.
  • Knowledge of sustainability-related regulation (SFDR/SDR) and/or sustainability-related product labels (such as Febelfin) not a strict requirement, but clearly a plus.
  • A background in equities with 2+ years of experience in Asset Management or equivalent in a relevant area
  • Numerical and analytical skills - ability to respond to client demands.
  • Written and verbal communication skills - ability to explain complex investment themes in simple language to a range of audiences.
  • Messaging skills - ability to focus on key issues.
  • Attention to detail - precision and rigour in the execution of tasks.
  • Strong work ethic - an individual driven by results and achievements.
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Organisational skills - ability to manage a wide range of tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Time management skills - ability to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills - ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proactive nature - ability to foresee future requirements and act accordingly.
  • Self-starter - a dynamic individual who can work independently.
  • Collaborator - ability to make a positive contribution to the vision of the Impact & Sustain Paris Aligned equity team and the investment specialists' team.
  • Foreign language skills - not a requirement, but clearly a plus.
