We are working with a leading alternative investment manager that is looking to hire an experienced Private Credit Investment Professional (Senior Associate or Principal Level). Our client is a very well-respected Tier-1 global firm that operates in a high-performing team environment and is in a period of expansion, offering an excellent opportunity for professional growth.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of Private Assets (Private Credit mostly and/or Private Equity), as well as good top-level knowledge of investing within an insurance regulatory framework (Solvency II/), as the role will involve selecting private credit investments (on a deal-by-deal basis) to deploy capital into behalf of insurance clients, for which the team manages assets.

European insurance experience is essential for the role, as most of the insurance clients that this firm manages assets for are based in continental Europe. Also, a large portion of the private credit deals that this person will be analyzing will most likely have a sub-IG focus.

A lot of the focus will be placed on looking at and screening various private credit deals (that have already been originated by another team). This will involve looking at deals on a case-by-case basis, conducting relative value analysis between the deals, and deciding on the investments that are most likely to generate excess returns on behalf of the clients for which the team manages assets

It will be important that anyone selected has advised (in a way/shape/form) on making private debt allocations to insurance clients and how to allocate these deals (eg. understanding the underlying product - not necessarily understanding every single deal and why it is a necessary picture - as well as regulation, Solvency II, how a fund works, capital contributions etc). Additionally, an understanding of why the asset class makes sense for the client (eg. why is private credit a better option than public credit?) is important.

Alternatively, this candidate could also be a private credit analyst with an insurance background (or from an insurance firm) that is looking to move into an investment-focused role that involves deploying capital.

Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside the investment team to help make investment recommendations to the firm's clients
  • Prepare and present summaries of new deals (private credit/private equity) to help the decision-making process, for the consumption of both internal stakeholders and clients
  • Defend investment decisions made, coordinate necessary governance for efficient approvals
  • Analysis of project capital activity, returns, drawdown risk, diversification and other metrics to construct portfolios comprised of private investment
  • Build constructive client relationships and provide best-in-class service to the firm's clients.
  • Support client interactions with auditors and regulators, providing ad-hoc materials often in a time-constrained fashion

Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience looking at sub-IG private credit investment opportunities (as well as IG)
  • European Insurance experience (eg. Having worked at a European Insurance firm previously)
  • Previous experience with alternative investments / private investments (essential)
  • Good understanding of fixed-income & markets
  • Confidence in defending investment proposals to clients
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of Solvency II regulation (including Standard Formula calculation and assessment for private assets)
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Powerpoint (slides) and Excel (efficient portfolio reporting and modeling)
  • Analytical capabilities relevant for private assets/alternatives portfolios modeling, monitoring, reporting (desired)
