Legal and General Capital are looking for a new member to join the LGC Investment Portfolio and Structuring team, supporting the team in developing, facilitating, and executing of investment solutions for LGC's broad and international client base including UK, US and Bermuda based Shareholder funds and Insurance balance sheets and LGIM managed funds.

The role holder will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the L&G group, such as L&G Retirement, LGIM, L&G Reinsurance, L&G America, Tax, Legal, Risk, and Finance and will support senior members of the team in structuring new and existing investments, analysing, reviewing and negotiating new investment opportunities, and will support the internal governance and requisite implementation within the approved group risk appetite.

What you'll be doing
  • Working closely with the LGC Direct Investment teams (in particular: Clean Energy, Urban Regeneration, Digital Infrastructure and Venture Capital) and the Investment Portfolio team to assess, structure, propose and support execution and documentation of complex alternative asset transactions while ensuring the portfolio fits with the approved investment strategy and is in line with regulatory standards.
  • Supporting the team in the assessing and executing fund investments and seeking internal sign offs for approved deals, review/negotiation of legal documents, onboarding, set up of reporting, etc.
  • Working with the Structuring Director on the end-to-end process of developing and implementing asset solutions for the various LGC client mandates across the UK, US and Bermuda.
  • Assisting senior team members in preparing Investment Committee and Risk Committee documents and proposals on relevant assets under consideration, including making an assessment of suitability of the balance sheet and performing scenario analysis.
  • Liaising and managing relationships with internal stakeholders across different parts of the organisation and across different regions and across disciplines (Investments, Tax, Finance, Actuarial, Legal and Risk Teams) with regard to various elements of the role.
  • Working with the MA actuary and LGIM Private Credit and Ratings team to determine solutions for modelling assets for LGR's Matching Adjustment book.
  • Operating at all times within the risk tolerances as per the Risk and Capital Mandate set by the business to ensure appropriate controls for the Group. This includes ensuring that the principles of conduct risk are embedded in day-to-day operations to deliver good customer outcomes at all times, and ensure that all business processes and internal controls within the role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of conduct risk
  • Treating Customers Fairly (TCF): Ensure all decisions made and activity undertaken in fulfilment of this role consider the fair treatment of our customers.

What we're looking for
  • University Honours degree/post graduate qualification OR qualified by experience
  • Previous experience in insurance, asset management or banking
  • Good understanding of Insurance company balance sheets including both capital and profit reporting regimes
  • Good knowledge of a range of different asset classes in which the business invests; ability to develop a good understanding of new asset classes as and when relevant
  • Strong and demonstrable understanding of fixed income valuation concepts and models is essential
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Powerpoint is essential. Experience with additional data tools a plus
  • Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Energetic, highly motivated self-starter with a passion for excellence and innovation
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work on very different types of projects
  • Strong collaboration and team working abilities is essential
